Company Overview: V-Soft Consulting is seeking a talented and experienced Systems Engineer for a direct hire, full-time opportunity with one of our premier clients in Itasca, IL. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work from home, with occasional visits to the office.

Position Overview: As a Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining IT systems. Collaborating closely with the Architecture Team, you'll ensure the efficient, secure operation of business and IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Server Management:

• Administer and maintain server infrastructure (installation, configuration, monitoring).
• Perform system updates, backups, and ensure server availability.
• Troubleshoot server-related issues and optimize performance.

Storage Management:

• Design and manage storage infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain data backup and disaster recovery systems.
• Manage fiber channel switches, cloud storage, and SAN arrangements.

Active Directory & Azure AD:

• Design and manage Active Directory and Azure AD environments.
• Troubleshoot authentication issues and manage domain security.
• Oversee certificate authority servers and ensure secure PKI infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance and develop disaster recovery strategies.

System Design & Implementation:

• Design, implement, and maintain IT systems and infrastructure.
• Integrate new technologies with existing systems and recommend hardware/software solutions.

Security & Compliance:

• Enforce security policies and best practices.
• Assist with security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Address endpoint security issues and ensure regulatory compliance.

Technical Support:

• Collaborate with the service desk team to resolve escalated issues.
• Develop documentation for system configurations and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical support and perform root cause analysis of outages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for off-hours support.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

• Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and develop IT solutions.
• Propose system improvements and stay up-to-date with emerging technologies.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain certifications.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 5-10 years in IT infrastructure, with proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
• Certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), ITIL V2-3, or equivalent.
• Skills:Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2016+, Hyper-V, Active Directory (including Hybrid and Azure AD), and system administration.Hands-on experience with storage solutions (e.g., Dell, Synology NAS), cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).Expertise in security, system backup, and disaster recovery strategies.Knowledge of SQL Server, network administration, and Microsoft 365 technologies.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience managing complex Active Directory environments (500-1000 users), data center operations, and cloud technologies.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and within a team.
