Take A Right On "EFFORT LANE"

Take A Right On "EFFORT LANE"

"No, I don't want a better job" OR "No, I don't need good employees."

These aren't phrases I usually come across, so, I'm not sure where putting in the effort took a solid LEFT turn down "F THIS STREET". It feels like people want greatness and success without the work, but unfortunately things don't just happen because you want them to -- I've tried it...it hasn't worked out so far.

Given the speed of society, it is so easy to say the following lines:

  • "I don't have time to fill that out."
  • "Can you do that for me?"
  • "Other people will do it if you don't."

Don't misunderstand, people have every right to respond that way. If someone else will do it easier and cheaper at the same standards I'm dishing out -- I kinda want to meet them too! If they can read your mind and know what drives you and motivates you without having to have a conversation, I have no issue with that.

Effort equals success and the more you put in the greater the reward. Those candidates who spend time filling out extra questions or take the time to talk a little longer on the phone are the ones who end up at a place that truly fits their skill and their personality. The clients who spend time with us and truly make us understand what it's like in their world and know how important it is to move fast when we have a potential fit -- well those are the clients that place fastest because there is no guess work. We know exactly what they want on a professional and personal level and these are the same clients with the lowest turnover rate. Shocking I know!

People are at their best when they are able to be in an environment that utilizes their skills, their personality, and allows them to continuously grow. Finding a candidate isn't as simple as looking on LinkedIn and hoping it's a match based on a job description. We don't hire machines, we hire people.

For everyone that has invested their time and effort and continues to do so, thank you! There is nothing one-sided about this or any business. It is truly relationship driven and would be impossible to do without people who were committed, driven, had a sense of humor, and VERY patient.

If you're stuck on "F THIS STREET", please don't complain. There is a simple solution. Take a right on "EFFORT LANE" -- it usually does the trick.

Well said. It's always about the relationships (and the effort that goes into them) - even when it isn't! Just take a little time to communicate. Yes, you do have the time if you want a successful outcome It's the only thing about business and industry that has never changed, and never will.
