Tears For Ukraine/The Numbers
Tears For Ukraine
As we all do, I had a reminder pop up on Facebook of a post I made a year ago. It was in regard to the song Tears For Ukraine. I hit share and thought I’d write a little about it. I thought why not share some of the numbers as a little bit to measure impact? Not that these are Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, or The Weeknd numbers, but for me, it was a nice run.
We had an incredible push nationally with airplay here and there on both coasts but not what we had hoped for. It was in front of the right people nationally.

At the start, the majority of the Audience was from Russia but currently, the top geographic location at 37.8 is from the USA, second highest is Russia, and after that the rest of the world.
Is the song still out there, yes it is, it had a nice run on the streaming side but Youtube really did well, by my standards.
I never would have guessed that this conflict would still be in existence, I thought it would be resolved in three days and it’s still going and going.
The song itself didn’t do much monetarily but that wasn’t the goal, it was to create support for the people, the families, and children, uprooted and lives devastated by war. Our mission was to create awareness for some of the top charities to distribute relief in that direction. I think we had an impact in that way and I think we had an impact on the public as small as it might be it was not bad for a small group of people that created Tears For Ukraine.
I’m not going to lie and say I wasn’t hopeful that in turn, it would be helpful to my music career. It wasn’t pretentious, my/our hearts were for the people and children that suffer due to the few decision-makers at the top. I also want to say that there is much more connected to this conflict in regard to all the players in this sad story of humanity. Am I surprised no, that’s just how it goes when these factors swirl around one geographical area of messiness. I’ll leave it at that for you to make your own determination.
Furthermore, for as little or big as you want to make Tears For Ukraine the song. I was hopeful, it was buzz-worthy, it was a good effort, and it was a great cause.
At this point, I’m happy with the outcome. I’m deeply proud of what we accomplished in writing a great song that started with just a title from Eric Rhoads on a Friday. The first version of the lyrics was created by Matt Jacobs, I edited and finished the lyrics and music that following Monday. We went into the studio and recorded, produced the song with the assistance of Kevin Williams and the band Elsie Binx by that Wednesday, and mixed and mastered it by Thursday. By Friday, the song was finished and submitted to radio nationally. It received a huge thrust from Radio Ink and All Access two of the largest broadcasting publications in the USA. It wouldn't be fair to not mention the incredible graphics and video that was done by my wife Grace.
Still, for the reason of the people and children of Ukraine, it was a great effort and I’d do it again.
Thank you to all involved, it was great working with such wonderful people.
