Tech Takes a Hit from COVID 19
Even our most advanced technology and the planning and the development and implementation of it has been affected dramatically by COVID 19. One perfect example of this is that the tech conferences around the world are starting to be postponed or canceled.
These cancellations began to be implemented in February when the GMSA announced that the Mobile World Congress that was being held in Barcelona was being canceled. The world's largest mobile trade was going to be attracting more than 100,000 visitors.
Given the massive pandemic that broke out the team wisely decided to cancel the conference. The problem is that this isn't the only tech conference that has been shut down and it's not the only tech team having problems getting their products and services noticed.
Concerns over attending any tech conference have surfaced with many companies deciding to not attend so many other conferences have been changed to online only or have been canceled all together.
At first the list of cancellations was a bare trickle but recently it has become a flood.Literally thousands of tech conferences have been canceled--a few have been rescheduled to the fall of 202 while some have been changed to virtual events. With COVID 19 well over a million cases now and deaths upwards of 100 K there is little actual knowledge about how long this pandemic will last and what else may be cut short by it.
Here is a partial list of the tech conferences that are being canceled and where you could go to find them.
O'Reilly Media has canceled all of the events.
Google announced that it was cancelling I/O 2020, scheduled for May 12-14
Facebook announced that it was cancelling its global developer conference, F8
Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, WWDC 2020, will now be online only. "We are delivering WWDC 2020 this June in an innovative way to millions of developers around the world, bringing the entire developer community together with a new experience,"

DrupalCon North America has been canceled and the event organizers are exploring new dates for the North America event, which had been slated for Minneapolis in May, but nothing has been announced. As of now, the Barcelona 2020 event is still slated for Sept. 14-17.
Enterprise Connect 2020, originally slated for March 30-Aprii 2 in Orlando, FL has been postponed to Aug. 3-6 in San Francisco.

SaaS Connect Cloud Software Association, slated for April 15-16 in San Francisco has been postponed until Oct. 5-6.
TNW Conference, slated for June 18-19 in Amsterdam has been postponed until Oct. 1-2.
These are just a few of the cancellations and changes to digital or virtual only conferences. How will this affect the developers, impact the hiring managers or change the technology field?
What do you see as the overall impact that COVID 19 will have on developers and the tech industry? Has COVID 19 changed the way that we do business?

4yBill McCabe, WOW, that is a sobering thing to see. There has to be different ways thought of and acted on, for the interim and as you share and know those that conform to the change and get active on it will grow! It is time to understand that people still desire this information and being part of this community, the companies have to come up with ways or find those that have to engage and inform!
