The Theory of Evolution

The Theory of Evolution

The stage is set for one of the biggest ever maritime events to take place in the UK, as plans for the London International Shipping Week 2023 (LISW23) Gala Dinner develop at pace. The black tie dinner, taking place on Thursday 14 September, will be held at the spectacular Evolution London in Battersea Park, where as many as 2,000 maritime movers and shakers will gather to celebrate the 10th anniversary of LISW and the sixth edition of this world-beating global event.

Evolution London is one of the small number of venues in the capital that is capable of catering to so many people but judging by the early surge in demand for dinner tickets, there is every chance that even this magnificent venue will not be able to accommodate everyone wishing to attend.

The LISW23 Gala Dinner will start with a champagne reception, hosted by international law firm HFW, followed by the dinner, hosted by leading class society ABS, and the grand finale, an After Party hosted by the French International Register (RIF).

To ensure this spectacular event surpasses all expectations, a Gala Dinner Working Group has been established, led by Richard Ballantyne OBE, Chief Executive of the British Ports Association as Chair. Also in the group are Raj Kehal of the Port of London Authority (PLA), Donna Stevens of the UK Chamber of Shipping, Gareth Long of the Department for Transport, as well as Sean Moloney and Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes, Directors of Shipping Innovation and co-founders and owners of LISW.

With well over 30,000 people expected to come into London for this year’s LISW, Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes advises early booking to avoid disappointment.

Richard Ballantyne commented: “The countdown to LISW23 is well and truly on and the Gala Dinner will be the culmination of the week. This year’s venue, Evolution at Battersea in London, will be a spectacular setting for what we anticipate will be the largest event in the 10 years since LISW’s creation. This will definitely be the event of the year for the international maritime community. My message to everyone is to get involved, but quickly.”
