Call for a DOJ Block Grant Program to Fund Civil Defense Auxiliary Police Programs

@DOJBJA @NSBAComm How about a DOJ Block Grant Program to Fund Civil Defense Auxiliary Police Programs across America to protect our children in our schools with highly-trained, well-armed, police-supervised auxiliary police officers?

The United States Department of Justice, through the Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) https://www.bja.gov/funding.aspx administers criminal justice block grants to the states, which, in turn, disburses grant awards to local counties. We are proposing that Congress fund a new school safety block grant program that will help the counties fund the creation and administration of volunteer Auxiliary Police programs to be used to provide or supplement armed protection of our schools. Such grants can either be disbursed to local sheriff offices, municipal police departments of county emergency management agencies. Currently, BJA offers an "Active Shooter Response Training" grant and a "Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)" award, the latter of which, could be enhanced to provide the funding we seek to all counties in the United States. We believe, however, each county in the United States should be entitled to a grant to fund police radio, equipment, uniforms, and professional salaries to administer Auxiliary Police programs as our children are our most precious commodity.
