Time to be true to yourself
Listen, I'm a homebody and I like to be in bed by 9:00 PM. Am I alone here? 😂
Last Wednesday, my brother took me out to the Lawrence concert. I was immediately stressed about staying up late, the crowds, not being able to say goodnight to my kids. But I went anyway and had a blast!
Something unexpected happened. I found myself getting inspired. Seeing the way that they engaged and interacted with the crowd and their personality on stage was incredible.
I've been lucky enough to attend several different concerts from all genres. Each one has their own flavor and crowd experience. In fact, they have built their audience because they are showing up as themselves. And because of that, those fans are loyal and keep coming back, buying merch, streaming their music, and mostly importantly, sharing about how great they are with friends.
It was a reminder to me that we should show up as ourselves always. No, it won't be right for everyone but the people that will connect with our cause and mission will be raving fans. Those fans will give multiple times, they will share with their friends and family, they will volunteer. and so much more.
This year, as you focus on your year end giving, focus on those raving fans! Don't worry as much about the people that aren't the right fit. Build those raving fans that want to jam out to your music, show up to your concerts over and over again, and help you organically build your community!
