Tips to Reduce Your Hotel’s Costs Without Reducing Quality Service
Thought you might be interested in the article Tips to Reduce Your Hotel’s Costs Without Reducing Quality Service and thought I’d share a few points with you here. I’ve found some relevant information here so if I find more, I’ll be sure to pass it on.
Cloud-based Property Management System
The first tip we would like to share with you is the following: switch the system you currently use to a cost-effective cloud-based PMS (Property Management System). Investing in cloud-based technology reduces the need for heavy upfront hardware expenses and ongoing maintenance expenses related to this hardware. There is also no need to hire a costly IT expert to maintain or upgrade the system.
Labor
Another area to look at closely when trying to cut hotel costs is labor. Your hourly employees should not be working under a “fixed schedule” because two things might happen: either your hotel will be understaffed, or it will be overstaffed. Instead, you should have a flexible workforce that adapts to constantly changing needs. Strive to base your staff numbers on forecasts from previous years and then update the schedule accordingly if adjustments need to be made.
Housekeeping
Streamlining housekeeping efforts should also be a priority for hoteliers. As previously explained, managers should want to schedule housekeepers based on facts and have a flexible workforce that adapts to the changing needs of the business.
