Top 3 reasons why it is Not Recommended to mix funeral services in Malaysia?

Can I mix my funeral services?

This is one of the common questions that I get. If I have a burial lot or columbarium and it is at another cemetery will you still provide service for us? although I never purchased any funeral service from you.

The direct answer is Yes!

Regardless if you have purchased a different funeral service provider or bought a burial unit in a different memorial garden. We will still provide our service and fulfil the basic needs and beyond.

However, it is best not to mix services, not because I want you to buy from me. But it is more for your own benefits. Here are the reasons why.

  • Your expectation may not be fulfilled.
  • May cost more than using one service provider only.
  • Hard to enquire solutions should there be any dispute.

Your expectation may Not be fulfilled

What does it mean by expectation may not be fulfilled?

Everyone has different expectations and standards of living and how things should be done. Some people would prefer to have a funeral be done at home, this is true especially for the older generations.

While others would prefer to have it done at a funeral parlour. Whichever the choice may be, one would hope to have the best environment and service available for them.

By having mixed services, some service providers do not have their own parlour. Thus, they need to rent it. If they are lucky they might get a quality parlour.

Same story goes for wake service, where a family will need a master (Sifu) for chanting/prayers. Some service providers do not have a signed contract master, they will face an issue of lack of manpower in this particular area.

These are only some major issues worth noting and it will create the next issue.

Funeral Cost might be more than using one service provider only.

As mentioned earlier, there will be times when a service provider encounters a logistical issue. Hence, when there is an instant demand, the cost will also be higher.

This is the significant downside of not having a one stop solution provider.

By having to pre-plan, a client can sign a contract or policy with the service provider and all prices are locked in place.

So, regardless after 10 or 30 years, the price will still remain the same and the service provided will be according to the current market normal practices.

Hence, doing so. A person can reduce the emotional distress and hassle should there's any dispute occur during or after the funeral. This brings us to the last point.

Hard to inquire solutions should there be any dispute

With experience we know nothing is perfect in this world. There will always be mistakes when it comes to humans.

There are families that do not have much demand during a funeral and there are families that are otherwise.

Should any dissatisfaction occur because of the wake service and burial process, it is easier for family members to deal with one company only. This can avoid unnecessary disputes as who should take responsibility and provide actionable solutions to meet customer demand.

Conclusion

It is better to use a single funeral service provider as compared to using multiples, this can eliminate significant issues such as disputes and additional cost.

In order to avoid such a scenario, it is best for a person to pre-plan early. As this will drastically reduce the cost needed to arrange a funeral in the long run and high assurance that the quality provided will be up to your standard.
