Top 3 Tips For Reading Over 100 Books A Year

My Top 3 helpful tips for reading more and not being stressed about it

Last week, I asked you to share how many books you plan on reading this year. Those who followed me on Goodreads know I plan on reading at least 100 books this year. For the past 3 years I have managed to read between 101 and 127 books, while working full time. And I guess there will be questions on how I manage to do that.

Here are my Top 3 tips for reading more and not feeling stressed about it.

  1. Audiobooks

They are a great way to read when you have your hands busy with house chores - cooking, cleaning, or just walking to the store. Personally, I find it easier to listen to fiction or motivational books, than business and leadership books. As an added benefit, to expand my vocabulary I listen to audiobooks in English or Russian, not in my native tongue.

2. Always have a book at hand

I developed a habit of reading everywhere. Literary everywhere. On the subway, in moving vehicles, elevators, while waiting in line at the store. Very often you don’t need more than two minutes to read a page from your book. And very often those two minutes you waste checking your phone or looking around aimlessly. Life is composed of little moments, don’t waste any of them.

3. Quit a book if you don’t like it

Many of my Instagram followers share that they tend to fall into a reading slump when they read a book they don’t like. “I’m trying to finish it, but I’m losing interest.” There is absolutely no point in forcing yourself to read, if you picked up the book for your leisure time. Don’t have any regrets to leave it unfinished. Most of my unfinished books (well, actually most of my books in general) end as donations to public libraries. My least favourite book can become someone's epic read.

Hope you found my tips helpful. To keep up with my current reads, follow me on Instagram and don’t be shy to comment and share your best practices for reading more.

The last one is my favourite. 2020 was the year of audiobooks for me and that’s when I fell in love with this format :)
