Toucan - Amazon Introduce A+ Content Update for Comparison Chart Usage

Amazon make a big update to A+ Content projects with their new limits on comparison chart usage. 

Multiple comparison charts within a single project can be distracting, taking attention away from the featured ASIN and distracting the customer with multiple products and details. 

  • Started on 19/8: Comparison charts will be limited to 1 comparison chart per project, if you have existing submitted projects with more than one comparison chart, you will need to reduce the number of charts down to 1 to update/edit and publish the content. 
  • Starting on 30/9: Any remaining projects with three or more comparison charts will automatically be reduced to 1, this reduction will leave the first slotted comparison chart within the A+ content and remove any comparison charts below it. 

This update regarding the limitation on comparison charts within A+ content on Amazon has several implications for brands: 

1. Refined Focus on Featured ASIN 

Impact: By limiting comparison charts to just one per A+ content project, Amazon is encouraging brands to focus more on the featured product (ASIN). This is likely to create a more streamlined and cohesive customer journey, reducing distractions from multiple products. 

Action: Brands will need to carefully curate which products to include in the comparison chart. Choosing the most relevant and strategically beneficial products to compare will become crucial. 

2. Content Revision and Compliance 

Impact: Brands with existing A+ content featuring multiple comparison charts will need to revise their content to comply with the new guidelines. This could involve substantial content edits, especially for brands that heavily rely on multiple comparisons to showcase a range of products. 

Action: Brands should prioritise updating their A+ content before the September 30th deadline to avoid automatic changes that could potentially misalign their marketing strategy. Proactive editing will allow for better control over how the comparison chart is presented. 

Summary

In summary, this update pushes brands towards a more focused and customer-centric approach in their A+ content. By emphasising clarity and reducing distractions, brands can better guide customers toward making purchasing decisions that favour their featured products. However, it also requires careful planning and possible restructuring of existing content to comply with the new guidelines.

Toucan - Amazon Make Strategic Changes for 1P Vendor Accounts

Amazon has terminated some 1P Vendor accounts but if you're one of these brands you still have options! 

Yesterday Amazon made some strategic changes which has affected partnerships with some brands on 1P. As a result, some Vendors will need to transition from Amazon’s 1P Vendor model to a 3P Seller Central account to continue selling on the platform.    This shift highlights Amazon’s evolving strategy which may prioritise larger brands for only Vendor Central.

Toucan - Amazon DSP Performance Metrics Now Available on  Amazon Marketing Stream

Amazon DSP performance metrics (traffic, conversion, clickstream, and rich media) are now available on Amazon Marketing Stream. Now you can access hourly aggregated Amazon DSP performance metrics in near real-time.  

What’s launched? 

New dataset provides hourly aggregated Amazon DSP performance metrics in near-real time. Metrics include traffic, conversion, clickstream, and rich media. 

This update offers significant advantages for brands using Amazon DSP by: 

  1. Real-time Campaign Optimisation: Access to hourly performance data, such as traffic and conversions, allows brands to make on-the-fly adjustments to their campaigns. For example, they can increase bids during high-traffic hours or pause underperforming ads instantly. 
  2. Improved Reporting: The integration with Amazon Marketing Stream ensures timely and more reliable reporting, which helps brands generate insights faster and without the limitations (like data throttling) of the older DSP reporting API. This can streamline the reporting process for marketing teams and agencies. 
  3. Enhanced Performance Metrics: The update covers critical performance metrics, including clickstream data (user behaviour after interacting with an ad) and rich media (like video ad engagement). These data points allow brands to understand better how users engage with their ads, helping them refine creative strategies.
  4. More Granular Data for Better Targeting: Intraday data provides a more detailed view of customer behaviour, helping brands better time their ad placements and optimise targeting strategies based on hourly performance trends. 
  5. Automation Potential: This update could enable brands and agencies to use automation tools to trigger actions (like budget increases or bid adjustments) based on real-time performance, allowing for smarter, more efficient ad management. 

Summary

In summary, the update gives advertisers greater control and flexibility to respond quickly to campaign performance, leading to better optimisation and, potentially, more effective ad spend on Amazon's platform.

Expand Your Reach with Amazon's Export Central Tool 

Amazon sellers can now reach millions of customers, even in countries without an Amazon store, thanks to the new Export Central tool. Announced by Amazon, this feature enables sellers in the Merchant Fulfilled Network (MFN) to expand internationally, reaching 39 European countries. 

Export Central is part of the free European Export Programme, which lets sellers export from six key stores: the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands*—without needing new accounts or duplicate listings. This programme drives traffic and boosts conversions, offering growth opportunities for all sellers, including those using Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) or MFN. 

FBA sellers are automatically enrolled at no extra cost, while MFN sellers can manually set international shipping rates and transit times. Sellers enabling European exports have seen sales increases of up to 10%**. The process is streamlined, requiring just three clicks in Export Central, allowing sellers to manage multiple stores simultaneously. 

For those using seller-fulfilled export, Amazon will pre-set shipping options, which sellers can review and adjust. VAT compliance, like enrolling in the Union One-Stop Shop (UOSS), is required for shipping across the EU. 

According to Xavier Flamand, Amazon’s VP of Seller Services, Europe: 

"Export Central is a game-changer for sellers seeking cross-border growth, especially in countries where Amazon doesn’t operate a store. We’ve removed many of the barriers to international expansion, empowering entrepreneurs to focus on creating and selling amazing products."

Amazon Accelerate 2024 has brought a wealth of exciting updates and innovations designed to empower sellers, streamline logistics, and improve customer experience. Below are some of the top takeaways that will impact Amazon sellers and businesses using the platform. 

Independent Seller Growth 

  • Independent sellers now make up 60% of Amazon's total sales. 
  • Over 4.5 billion items sold by U.S. based sellers last year alone. 
  • Customer reach has expanded to 130 countries, making it easier for sellers to go global. 
  • Prime deliveries exceeded 2.5 billion, enhancing speed and customer satisfaction. 

Supply Chain & Logistics Innovations 

  • Amazon Managed Placement: Ship to one location and distribute to multiple regions for faster delivery times. It now accounts for 80% of global logistics volume. 
  • Amazon Warehousing & Distribution (AWD): Expanded support for more product types, including expiration-dated items, while optimising stock replenishment. This has resulted in 15% fewer stock-outs and 15-20% lower inventory in fulfilment centres. 
  • Amazon Managed Ship: A game-changer for inventory management, allowing sellers to optimise cash flow while taking advantage of 25% off AWD storage fees and 15% off transportation costs.  
  • Domestic Transportation: The Partner Carrier Programme has reduced shipping costs by 25% and operates in 19 countries, sending over 2 billion units into the U.S. network. 
  • New Multi-Channel Distribution Capabilities: MCD recently introduced custom labelling & preparation capabilities, allowing sellers to distribute products across multiple sales channels, including other marketplace platforms, wholesalers, distributors, and their own physical stores.

Reimbursements 

  • Proactive Reimbursements: Sellers no longer need to submit reimbursement claims for lost items. Amazon will now automatically issue reimbursements when items are lost. 
  • Inventory Defect and Reimbursement (IDR) Portal: This portal provides sellers with centralised visibility into defects, their status, and resolutions, consolidating everything in one place for the first time on Seller Central. 

E-Commerce and Marketing Tools 

  • AI-Driven Personalisation: Amazon’s new tools personalise product titles for search queries. This means titles will be rearranged to match what the customer is searching for, increasing visibility. 
  • AI-Generated Images & Videos: Sellers can now create dynamic images and videos with animations, like adding steam to a coffee cup, transforming static product shots into lifestyle content.   • A+ Content:  Amazon will be building upon last year's update and introducing new features for A+. 
  • Launch of Amazon Shopping App: Amazon’s new shopping app enables sellers to schedule pickups directly from their warehouses, manage inventory across locations, track delivery vehicles in real time, and get support, all from the convenience of their mobile device. 

Integration with Popular Platforms 

  • Buy with Prime can now be integrated directly into TikTok ads, allowing sellers to leverage TikTok's massive audience for seamless shopping. 
  • PayPal Integration with Buy with Prime: Next year, Prime members will be able to link their Amazon and PayPal accounts for fast, free shipping. 
  • Shopify + Prime: Sellers can offer both Prime and non-Prime items in a single order, boosting average order value. 

Faster Deliveries and Drone Innovations 

  • Same-Day and 1-Hour Drone Deliveries: Amazon is expanding its drone delivery service, aiming for deliveries in under 60 minutes in select locations. 
  • Next-Gen Drones will be launched in Tolleson, Arizona, and internationally in Italy. 
  • Multi-Channel Fulfilment Delivery: Amazon has increased the speed for Standard Delivery by 40% at no extra cost to merchants. Sellers can now enjoy a reduced Standard Delivery option from 5 business days to 3 business days, with deliveries made seven days a week. 
  • Delivery Estimates: Buy with Prime merchants can now display real-time Prime delivery estimates directly in their TikTok ads. Later this year, merchants using Amazon MCF will also be able to showcase dynamic delivery dates on their websites, Google Shopping ads, search results, and TikTok ads. 

Financial & Compliance Updates 

  • Amazon Lending: Expanded loan offerings with a maximum of $5 million, helping sellers scale their businesses. 
  • Counterfeit Protection: Amazon has intensified efforts to combat counterfeits, with over 7 million products seized in 2023. 

Enhanced Seller Support 

  • Amazon is enhancing seller support with 100% live chat coverage and AI-enabled assistance for quick issue resolution. The new Connect with a Specialist feature will further improve support for complex issues. 

What This Means For You 

These updates from Amazon Accelerate highlight the ongoing innovation within Amazon’s ecosystem, providing sellers with the tools and strategies to grow their businesses and improve operational efficiency. It is good to know that these events allow Amazon to announce a lot of updates that they are working on, to improve and make it easier for sellers and brands, but we should know that some of these are in the early stages and will be continuously getting developed over the course of the year so if you are testing new features, these will be constantly being improved and changed. 

The introduction of new AI tools, is going to make it easier for brands to stand out on the platform, optimise their listings, and attract the right customers, ultimately driving higher conversion rates. AI really helps with speed and getting information 75% there however it is extremely important to consistently review and ensure it has a human touch such as optimising your listing descriptions or titles. Toucan recommend that if you want your Amazon business to be fully optimised, it is necessary to use professionals whether that be an Amazon Agency or your own in-house team 

The introduction of partnerships with new platforms such as TikTok and Shopify gives brands a chance to diversify their audience and tap into new markets without the need to manage new shipping and logistics. It is important for brands to diversify and tap into new audiences and as Toucan are a certified TikTok Shop Partner, we have launched multiple brands on TikTok and can see first-hand why it is important to diversify and what all the hype is about surrounding TikTok Shop. 

Altogether, these updates represent Amazon's push to make it easier and more cost-effective for sellers and brands to operate, grow, and compete, not just on Amazon, but across multiple channels in a global marketplace.

Max is half American and spent his childhood in Singapore! Now that he’s back in the UK, you'll often find him camping and mountain biking in his spare time while also trying to keep his Fantasy Premier League team in check to win the Toucan FPL for a second year running.

Fun fact about Mahlah, she loves to travel and recently got married which all the team were super happy about for her. When she’s not helping clients achieve their goals, you’ll find her playing korfball or hanging out with her adorable cocker spaniels, Bonnie, Evie, and Indie.

We are excited to introduce you all to Tom Heyes, our brilliant Strategic Lead and Katie Style who is one of our amazing Senior Client Executives!

Tom is new to the team at Toucan but has been a brilliant addition and has become an invaluable asset. Tom has a keen eye for market trends and is always keeping up to date with what’s best for our clients and potential clients. Tom is always thinking of new ways and areas to drive growth for Toucan and is a great person to have round the office.

We can’t forget about Katie who has spent her time at Toucan showing such a willingness to learn and has a real passion for helping her clients and colleagues achieve their goals. Katie has a real positive attitude around the office and is a real team player when it comes to others needing help and she is an indispensable part of the Toucan team!

When Tom isn’t in the office, he severely enjoys the outdoors and being very active with a love for mountain biking, running, hiking and camping! He is also an avid football fan who supports Chelsea FC (god bless him) so he is used to getting some stick around the office along with the other Chelsea fans.

Katie loves being active and is a big runner and cyclist partaking in many races around the UK. She is also a big country music fan and enjoys taking over the speaker in the office which everyone really appreciates!

Meet Dania, one of our amazing Senior Client Executives & TikTok Lead and Sam who is one of our brilliant Senior Client Managers!

Sam has been at Toucan for nearly 2 years and has great experience in managing a wide range of different clients. Sam’s brilliant Amazon knowledge with his varied skill set has resulted in some amazing client wins which he is always super proud of. It doesn’t just stop with brilliant Amazon knowledge with Sam, he is a brilliant mentor and is a real gem for the office.

Outside of work, Sam is a massive sports fan and loves playing & watching football and golf. Along with most of the others in the office, he is a big Chelsea & Cole Palmer fan to be more specific with inside knowledge of that he messages him “good luck” before games. He is also into his cooking but has yet to be seen bringing lunch into the office ever so it’s still up for debate.

Having Dania in the office is brilliant and she works tremendously hard for her clients to get them the best results. She is always learning and loves to share her knowledge with the team often presenting in meetings! Dania has great initiative and has recently headed up Toucan’s TikTok Services for clients which has got off to a great start!

When she’s not working, Dania has been planning her wedding which I am sure she is super excited for while also learning Albanian on the side which she says is rather difficult. Dania also loves shooting content and does wedding content while she’s not in the office and she hasn’t received any 1-star reviews just yet!

Get to know the 2 people who are driving our global expansion which is Dan who is our Commercial Director and Paula who is Toucan’s North & South America Senior Client Partner.

After 12 years in the UK, Dan is now based in Melbourne and oversees everything for Toucan from a sales and marketing perspective and is responsible for creating commercial strategies to accelerate company growth. His ex-brand experience makes him a pro when it comes to breaking into new categories and helping our clients accelerate their growth.

Paula’s expertise in multi-market expansion makes her an invaluable asset as Toucan’s NAM Senior Client Partner. She guides clients through the complexities of local markets, with a particular focus on the US. Her keen attention to detail enables her to deliver in-depth analyses of shopping behaviours, helping clients implement profitable strategies.

When he's not in the office, Dan is a big sports fan and loves to watch and play Aussie rules football and tennis. Dan has also recently become a dad to Lottie which he is super proud of. He also loves to travel and try local food and loves his coffee so you can guess where his favourite places to visit are!

Outside of work, Paula is a culinary wizard, whipping up new recipes and flavours in the kitchen. She loves hosting dinner parties that could rival a Michelin star event—who wouldn’t want to gather around her table?

We are incredibly lucky to have Dan & Paula driving Toucan’s global expansion and it makes it that bit sweeter when they visit the team in London!
