Tribe Carnival Brand Partnered with NativeMirror to Unveil Facial-Recognition AI System

Tribe, the Carnival brand, has collaborated with the local art and photography gallery NativeMirror to introduce the CarnivalCamera, a digital platform utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to directly send masqueraders' photos to their social media accounts.

This feature employs facial recognition technology to identify registered masqueraders and send their photos to their specific accounts. Thus, it aims to simplify the process of finding and accessing costume photos without the need to exchange contact information with photographers. This is also increasing the demand for facial recognition market. In addition, as per the report of Astute Analytica, the global facial recognition market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 17.87% during the forecast period from 2024 to 2032.

Tribe's CEO highlighted that this innovative feature is likely to enhance the ease of locating costume photos, eliminating the traditional challenges of sifting through numerous images on a website.

Additionally, the CarnivalCamera system incorporates large-scale AI editing of images for quality enhancements and rapid delivery, similar to tagging pictures via facial recognition as seen on platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

This system marks the first large-scale editing rollout of its kind, leveraging facial recognition technology during Carnival. In addition, it is supported by a team of over 40 photographers capturing the entire masquerading experience.

Data Privacy and Image Control

Addressing concerns over data mining and user privacy, Drayton reassures masqueraders that the company does not engage in selling images or data to external agencies, providing a sense of security for participants.

Furthermore, the CarnivalCamera system grants users full control over the publication of their photos in the band’s public gallery, allowing them to manage the visibility of their images. While photos are sent to masqueraders via their private gallery, some images may also be used in the website’s public gallery, with the option for swift removal if desired
