[ TuesDate ] One small step at a time!
Happy Tuesday! :)
How are you?
Since it's the start of the year, I am sure many of us are setting our goals for 2022.
In his book Atomic Habits, James Clear said,
"Goals don’t determine success, systems do.
You do not fall to the level of your goals; you fall to the level of your systems."
It means that if we want to succeed, we need to build systems (or habits) around our goals.
Business-wise, I am so grateful for my team and for the systems we have in place.
We just had our team meeting via Zoom awhile ago and I realized the last time we had that kind of meeting was July 2021! Woah!
It meant the business kept running well even in the absence of our weekly Zoom meetings because of the systems we have in place.
Personal-wise, let me share with you another story.
One of my goals for so many years now was to exercise 5-6 days a week.
Pre-pandemic, I enrolled in a gym and paid for 6 months. I only went 3-4 times.
I enrolled in cross fit. Paid for 3 months. I only went twice.
During the pandemic in 2021, I hired a coach. Paid her full fee. But I quit after the diagnostic exercise.
It's been years of failed attempts to exercise consistently.
On the first week of 2022, I gave myself another chance.
I hired a fitness coach with 6-pack abs!
My coach created a program for me and he has been consistent in messaging me DAILY!
He would constantly remind me to eat clean (avoid junk foods), drink lots of water, get enough sleep, do cardio and do workouts, etc.
He would message even on weekends when I thought about eating my favorite comfort food.
He would say things like, "Keep eating as clean as possible this weekend, Sha!"
I remember one day, I was snacking on my favorite Mr. Chips (a local junk food) when I received a message from my coach.
"Sha, remember to eat clean. Avoid junk food!"
Me:
Mr. Chips:
I reluctantly continued eating my chips, but I didn't finish it. Then I threw it away. Huhu!
So far, his constant messaging helped!

I've seen changes.
I used to eat chips for snacks. Now, I know how to say no to them. (When my brother offered me chips the other day, I said, "No, thanks!")
I used to eat one huge dark chocolate in one sitting. Now, I only eat one small square.
I've also been consistent in my daily cardio and workouts for more than a week now.
What changed? I've learned to build systems around my fitness in terms of my daily habits.
Here are some systems I placed that are working for me:
- I made getting 8 hours of sleep a non-negotiable. (It's hard to exercise when you lack sleep)
- I made my cardio and workout exercises part of my Morning Routine.
- I drink 4-5 liters of water a day.
- I prepare my workout clothes the night before.
So far, so good! Thank God!
What are your important goals this 2022?
What systems or habits can you build around your goals?
When I was still an employee and I wanted to eventually pursue my real passions full time, some of the systems I built around this goal were to :
I've been investing in my personal development since 2005. I still do until today.
Speaking of systems, sending you a letter every #TuesDate is part of my weekly habits.
Thank you for this honor of connecting with you each week! :)
I wish you'll have a beautiful week ahead! :)
Cheers,
Sha
P.S. I have a new music video. Part of the lyrics says,
“When you think hope is lost and giving up is all you’ve got….”
You can watch it here. I also showcased my theatre skills here (or a lack thereof). Plus, there's a surprise number at the end, after the credits.
P.P.S. My masterclass on Unleash Your Creativity and Increase Your Productivity thru Self-Love is now available on SkillShare. SkillShare is an online membership pretty much like Netflix. If Netflix is into movies/TV shows, SkillShare is into online courses/masterclasses.
You can access my masterclass and other masterclasses for F.R.E.E. for one month here: https://skl.sh/349tFBy
