Unveiling Your Inner Compass: The Value Exploration Journey

Unveiling Your Inner Compass: The Value Exploration Journey

Have you ever been in a place where you were doing all the right things based on others' feedback to implement or follow, and you worked as hard as you possibly could but were not getting the desired results, AND you are feeling out of sync?

Yeah, I’ve been there many times and often wondered why this is happening and how I can change it! It wasn’t until I talked to a friend who, after listening to me venting for a few minutes, summarized my dilemma in a simple statement: “You’re misaligned with your values.” The dots started connecting, and I knew I was on the right track.

So why is it important for us to know and understand our values? Brené Brown states that “establishing clarity of values, and living into those values, is one of the essential skill sets of being a leader.”

You might be curious about what I did to help me become the leader I always wanted to be AND show up full of passion and confidence in my personal and professional life.

Here are 4 easy steps you can follow to stay true to your values:

  1. I pull up a list of values and circle up to five important values in my personal and professional life.
  2. For each value, I write a short statement of why this value is essential to me and how it shows up in my life.
  3. I share my values with my team and my family to ensure they understand what is important to me.
  4. At least once a year, I revisit my personal and professional values and realign my leadership and lifestyle to my values.

By following those 4 simple steps, you might get the following:

  1. Clarity of direction: Our values guide us in making decisions and choices that align with what is most important to us. When we are clear about our values, we have a sense of purpose and direction, which helps us prioritize our goals and actions.
  2. Authenticity and self-awareness: they allow us to understand ourselves better, recognize our strengths, passions, and what truly matters to us. This self-awareness promotes authenticity and enables us to make choices that align with who we are, leading to greater satisfaction and fulfillment in our personal and professional lives.
  3. Decision-making: they provide a framework for decision-making. When faced with dilemmas or challenging situations, they help us make choices that align with our beliefs and principles; they help us weigh options and assess which actions or paths are consistent with our values, leading to more confident and ethical decision-making.
  4. Consistency and integrity: living in alignment with our values promotes consistency and integrity. When our actions and behaviors align with our values, we experience a sense of congruence and harmony within ourselves. This authenticity and integrity also foster trust and respect from others, both personally and professionally.

You might be asking yourself - can I do it, too; is that framework universal and applicable to the challenges I’m facing? If that’s you, please know you’re not alone.

That is why I decided to host a free webinar series introducing you to more than just a review of your values. During the three sessions, we’ll discuss values and purpose and share the secrets that helped me become the confident leader I’m today. I share techniques that will help you take your communication and collaboration skills to the next level; I’ll teach you how to listen and give feedback to deepen your relationships with your team and others in your organization and life.

Are you ready to commit to taking your leadership to the next level?
