Valid Secure Operating System is Certified for Enhanced Security in UNISOC's 5G Smartphone SoC
Madrid, Spain - April 23th, 2024 - Valid, a leading provider of interoperable eSIM solutions, is excited to share a significant milestone within the integrated technologies arena. In collaboration with UNISOC, the chip design company leader, Valid is proud to announce the first in class integrated secure element operating system (iSE OS) over UNISOC’s 5G Smartphone System on Chip (SoC) T820, earning full integrated product certification.
As GSMA forecasts 5 billion 5G Connections by 2030, our collaboration with UNISOC underlines the imperative for robust 5G security, extending beyond conventional communication chips. The integration of Valid’s iSE OS into UNISOC's 5G SoC T820 transforms the chipset into a Root of Trust to secure transactions from a wide array uses cases such as transit services, mobile payments and digital car keys, among many other upcoming mobile services.

Devices makers (OEMs) can benefit from Valid’s iSE OS over UNISOC’s 5G SoC T820 by reducing the need of adding ad-hoc secure element chipsets to their device designs that represents a dramatic reduction on the Bill of Materials (BOM) as well as savings in the PCB space. Besides that, OEMs can use iSE to secure critical device processes such as secure booting, firmware updates and cryptographic keys management.
"Renowned for expertise in different technologies, UNISOC is among the top three 5G chip companies globally. Our collaboration with Valid, a strategic alliance chosen for their innovative secure operating systems, marks a pivotal milestone. The hardware and COS certification for our iSE T820 not only validates our joint solution's security features but also positions both companies as innovators in the competitive mobile processor industry. This partnership enhances our ability to deliver secure, feature-rich chipsets, redefining industry standards and reinforcing our commitment to advanced, secure solutions." Said Guixun LV, General Manager of Mobile SPDT of UNISOC Consumer Electronics Division and General Manager of Smartphone PDT at UNISOC.
"As Valid celebrates this significant achievement alongside UNISOC, we look forward to making a lasting impact on the mobile processor industry. Our expertise in secure operating systems has played a pivotal role in enhancing the security features of UNISOC's 5G SoC T820. This collaborative effort ensures a positive influence on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and their various applications.” said Jose Manuel Castro , SVP of Global OEM Sales at Valid. “Our anticipation of substantial growth in Integrated Secure Element (iSE) shipments over the next five years reflects the industry's escalating demand for secure and advanced mobile processor solutions. This program exemplifies our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that provide OEMs with the perfect solution to differentiate you from the rest by providing users with the ultimate security and performance experience."

8moCongratulations to the VALID team!!! Proud of you! 😀 In particular, May Tang; nina fan, Fernando Jimenez Somolinos, Antonio Manuel López Martín. Jose Manuel Castro In a career, sometimes you remember key events. This first meeting during MWC 2029 with UNISOC marketing team is one of them, no doubt... Transforming a vision into reality is not an easy way, but seeing the result after 5 years is a key achievement for the industry. Looking ahead, the future evolution of integrated secure elements (iSE) and SIM technology (iSIM) promises transformative advancements across various sectors and applications.
