Volgren Delivers its 10,000th Locally Built Bus in Australia
In 1979, Volgren delivered its first bus, setting the stage for a journey defined by quality and innovation. Today, we celebrate an extraordinary milestone: the delivery of our 10,000th bus. This achievement reflects nearly five decades of dedication, collaboration, and the collective effort of our employees, partners, and community.
Our 10,000th bus, is an advanced battery-electric vehicle built in partnership with Volvo and represents how far we’ve come. Delivered to the Public Transport Authority (PTA) in Western Australia, it highlights our ability to adapt to evolving needs, transitioning from diesel to compressed natural gas (CNG) and now to electric technology.
The milestone was celebrated at our Malaga facility, with PTA and Volvo in attendance. To commemorate this event, a plaque was presented to both organisations by our CEO.
“Reaching the production of our 10,000th bus is a moment of immense pride for Volgren. This milestone reflects decades of innovation, dedication, and the strong partnerships we’ve built with organisations like PTA and Volvo. It is also a symbol of our future—one defined by sustainability and collaboration as we continue to deliver world-class public transport solutions,” said Thiago Deiro, CEO of Volgren.
Key to this milestone is our Malaga factory in Perth, which celebrates 25 years of operations. Since its opening in 1999, the facility has delivered over 2,358 buses to PTA and become a cornerstone of Western Australia’s manufacturing sector. Supporting over 100 employees and 10 apprentices, Malaga combines cutting-edge facilities with a strong commitment to local job creation and skills development.
As we celebrate 10,000 buses, we also mark other major milestones: Volgren’s 45th anniversary, 15 years at our Eagle Farm facility in Queensland, and the delivery of over 150 Zero Emission buses nationwide. Each achievement reinforces our commitment to sustainable transport and the communities we serve.
To our employees, partners, and customers—thank you for making this milestone possible. Here’s to the next chapter, as we continue to innovate and lead the way in public transport solutions. Here’s to the next 10,000 buses and the future they will drive.
