In the war of ego, the loser always wins
It is said that our ego is like your parent guardian. It keeps you from doing stupid things by putting fear inside your timid heart. It is not because it wants to hurt you, but rather because it wants you to live with some insecure feeling even if that means blocking you from doing a couple things you want to. It is actually somewhat like an overprotective parent that loves you and only wants the best for you, but it does it in such a way that it stops you from doing certain things.
If we think your ego is the part of the inflated brain and heart is where your soft sentiments are stored, then it our duty about controlling the two and letting them work in tandem where they are needed in harmony. Now consider that neither your ego nor your heart knows what’s best all the time and therefore only together, they can very well figure it out!
When we talk of willpower a strong emotion of the mind, it is our desire to give effort, even if only to considering the possibility of giving away strong effort. To some it may sound that word might best be called divine grace, or to others simply awareness or someone else, who is full of doubt on the capabilities, which in other words forms a change in perception.
But ego is also what protects us from doing what we want because of the possible danger involved. The very first thing that you must remove from your mind is you should stop thinking you are greater or superior from others. When you talk or refreshes with you peer group stop talking credit of everything what you have done in the group.
Move yourself towards meditation and this will simply help you to control your mindful behaviour. Learn to treat everyone equally which which help you feel happy and you can feel equal with them and the best thing is reading the biographies and the books of philosophers which helps you to overcome your ego along with anger and many things. This slowly starts the journey from I to we.
We know that the most neglected and confusing source of decision failure is if you're conflicted about what you're doing in the first place and reasoning for which you're doing it, or for whom you're doing it. If this is the case, then every thought is going to be an inward decision that will count against your personal threshold. The same inner voice questions the decision over and over them again.
Self-control normally means that if somebody tries to scare you, you will be able not to show the insecurity and so you can better fend that person off. Whenever you feel angry and the guy you are angry at is a strong politician or a man in power like government officer, a policeman, a villain with a gun, your boss at work, etc., for which you will be able to bottle that anger up, etc.
One would ask you to look in two different directions to check if your body is on run down because of improper diet, infection, depression, etc or have you also suffered any huge shocks lately, e.g.,love break, death of parent or you losing job due to cost cutting measures this and another reason could be that the core of your value system and motivation has taken a big hit in terms of your beliefs.
As Einstein said, " Ego is inversely proportional to knowledge". Therefore, just open your eyes, and see the world around you there are people better than you in every walk of life and be humble. Stay blessed! #kishoreshintre

4yAll good points. Lot of things to think about. Liked the idea that your ego somehow protects you from harming yourself in certain situations. I agree with it completely but at times the soft power of the heart pushes the ego away and then one has to brace for the consequences that might hurt the ego for a long time or permanently.

4yKnowledge is difficult to gain. Reading and understanding language or content doesn't give Knowledge. But ego is different, it increases in learned people as Knowledge is learnt in a domain, which is out of comfort zone, and mostly educated don't go in that area.
