Be warned...
As I was driving to the train station over the weekend (to pick up my 15-year-old who is home for the holidays from boarding school) it hit me…
It hit me that I have had my very own business coach/mentor now for the last 10 years straight. More specifically, I’ve had 4 business coaches in total over that 10-year period, but the first and most profound one was the very first one, which lasted a full 4 years from 2012 to 2016. (If you are wondering who it was…. It was the amazing Nathan McDonald).
It was January 2012, when I realised that something needed to change. My entire private practice team was fully booked, with every available room being used. For all intensive purposes, my practice was doing ok and from the outside it looked pretty successfully, but my cashflow sucked, my profit margins were dismal, and I was working my arse off. I also knew that I could not keep going the way I was going for another 10 years – it just wasn’t a sustainable business. I knew I had to get off the hamster wheel but getting off had implications. Big implications. Financial implications and with a shitty cashflow and low profits it felt like an impossible challenge.
Thankfully, Impossible, is my middle name and the moment someone tells me something isn’t possible, I make it my personal mission to make it Possible. Lucky for me, my vision of the impact I wanted to create through my practice was larger than the financial pain I had to endure, so I took out my first business credit card to pay for my first three months of business coaching (which back then in 2012 was $2K per month).
Looking back though, it was the best business decision I ever made, as it literally changed the trajectory of not only my business, but also my life. After those first 3 months, I was able to pay off that credit card and pay cash for my ongoing business coaching, which continued for the next 4 years. These 4 years of business coaching specifically focussed on building my two brick-and-mortar practices. The business coaches I’ve had since then, has supported me in building my own online coaching business and for each of them I am eternally grateful. So be warned….
Once you’ve tasted the support that the right business coach and mentor can provide, you might never want to go without it ever again (and honestly, neither should you - and why would you want to!).
My own business coaching is my ongoing professional development as a business owner. I will and can never know everything I need to know. For me (and for all of us) there is always a next level IF we choose it to be so.
I also like to be challenged with out of the box thinking and to open my mind to innovation, as I continue my pursuit of helping more people in better ways. I also believe that the worst possible mistake one can make is to be the smartest person in the room, so I endeavour to be part of a business coaching program that has very smart and experienced but goods humans who inspire me to be MY very best.
I believe it was Ken Blanchard who said...

‘None of us are as smart as all of us’
This is such a profound statement. It is because of this that I also LOVE group business coaching. Why would I want to learn from only 1 person, when I can learn from a group of clever and amazing people. This is why I deliver my own business coaching for allied health professionals in a highly effective group setting called the Private Practice Success Academy.
The Academy is more than ‘just’ business school for allied health professionals. It is a close-knit, highly supportive, group of like-minded, high performance practice owners that don’t see one another as competition but as partners in making a difference within our profession, our industry and our community. So, if you want access to this type of support, this type of community WITH all the bells and whistles of content, templates and other resources, then be sure to reach out.
The best way to assist both me and you to know whether the PPS Academy is the right fit for you, is to complete this short Triage Form via this link: https://bit.ly/PPSheretohelp
Alternatively, feel free to email me directly at gerdam@private-practice-success.com and let’s chat.
I ’m going to venture a guess and say that it might be time for you also to put your business oxygen mask on by saying yes to your very own business coaching support, so be sure to reach out.
Warmest regards,
Gerda
