"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give"--Winston Churchill

In our country most of us grow up with the understanding that financial failure and social humiliation are critical elements for keeping our free market system going. Eventually though we learn that life is not always fair and that people helping people in time of need brings out the best in us.

The label we put on it can be curiously inflammatory in the US--certainly government programs can be corrupt and overly bureaucratic, but so can private businesses; I have seen both in my anti-fraud work as a consultant.

Practical case studies illustrate what works and can help to spread the word. I used to think UBI was a pipe dream but I am beginning to believe it might eventually catch on.
