We need an Employment Platform for Rural Job Market
I come from a business family from a small town in India. Whenever I go to my hometown, in general discussion with my family members, the difficulty of getting good workers keep coming up.They largely depend on reference from their network to get employees for their business.
Same time I see lots of youth passing out from colleges there and stay unemployed.
Clearly there is a gap. There needs to be platforms which can connect rural business and job seekers.
Unfortunately most job portals focus on jobs in cities.
Govt has many rural employment schemes like MGNREGA, but they are not focused on private jobs.
For rural unskilled/semi skilled workforce 2 things can be done:
1) Get jobs for them in cities( delivery boys, cooks, plumber, secutiry, drivers etc)
There are many agencies in cities, who bring people from rural parts and employ them here. But the sector if very unorganized. Many of these agencies are fraudulent and don't pay salaries properly etc.
2) Get jobs for them in their local areas itself.
This part is still under-served.
There are jobs available in rural areas like agriculture jobs, labor jobs, driver jobs, accountant jobs etc. But there are are no job portals/platforms which can connect business and job seekers.
Building a platform for rural job market won't be easy. It will have some very unique challenges that city candidates/business won't face:
1) Education: Unskilled/semiskilled people would be mostly uneducated/less educated. Expecting them to fill details in job portals like we do in naukri, linkedin etc is wrong.
2) Internet/smartphone/computer penetration: Most of these workers many not have smartphone/internet connection.
3) Adoption: Rural businesses also have not used job portals to get candidates. It will take them sometime to adopt to the model.
What can be done:
There needs to be an online+ offline model. There can be agents in rural parts who will register these people on the platform and fill all details(photo, name, age, skills, experience, aadhar details etc. Also, for rural jobs they can connect with local business and collect jobs and upload in the portal. All data will go to central platform. Platform will show all jobs, and match suitable people in the database based on skills. Local agents can then process them. Platform can also provide assessment tools.
It is not easy business to do, but whoever does this will solve a real problem.
Just came across this company called EezyNaukari. They are doing good work in this area.
Do you guys know any other companies who are working in this area?

7yRabi Agrawal Nice thoughts..one issue i faced while trying to do something like this...the SMEs which offer jobs in these small towns are also unorganized with no concrete employment structure...also the promoters are not willing to adopt to an online ecosystem....they generally rely on references...
