Wearing Pajamas while Working from Home!

Wearing Pajamas while Working from Home!

Let me start by sharing a recent exciting experience. This week I attended a virtual induction program in my pajamas. We did a same poll live in the session and the results were similar. This was a day long event with series of important sessions, less breaks and a lot to assimilate. I wore a shirt and a jacket of course and it was not my night pajamas or night shirt. Next day I had a short virtual meeting and was dressed in a full business suit for the purpose.

It turns out there are pros and cons involved in wearing pajamas while you work. For some people, it may be the perfect way to jump right into everything that’s on the agenda. And for others, it may be necessary to get ready in a way that’s dressed up without overly corporate. Some may prefer to strike a fine balance between the two. There can never be a right or wrong answer between the two and we need to figure it out based on the situation.

Wearing pajamas while working from home is all about the comfort. For many people it is conducive to relaxation that can correlate to greater productivity for those who find there is nothing better than sitting back and getting everything done without thinking about things like which suit to wear for the day. It is one of the genuine advantages of working from home. As long as we are getting the job done and it doesn’t impact your ability to perform or productivity, there is no reason that one shouldn’t remain in their comfortable clothes. On a lighter note, it is best to ensure that we keep the night and daytime pajamas separate :)

In certain instances, it may actually be necessary to get a little bit more dressed up than you might normally for a day spent in your home. It’s a great idea to put in some extra effort if you need to have important video calls in the day. Whether you’re virtually meeting with your manager, your clients, or your co-workers, you’ll feel a lot more polished and confident since what we wear matters and reflects in our behavior.

Have the best of both worlds and act as per the situation. Some people may prefer getting a little bit more dressed up for the workday but still remaining true to your love of pajamas. When you are working from home, then there is no reason to feel like you have to get ready in the way you would do for office or other professional setting unless you absolutely feel like you will get more done that way.

Interesting thoughts you've shared there, Rajat. I couldn't pick one side though! I don't think pajamas tend to lower my productivity so I'd continue to lounge in them when working remotely, but a small grooming effort at the start of the day definitely sets a great pace! 😀 Interestingly, I wouldn't mind comfort wear (not pajamas definitely, haha) even when going to office.
