There is a reason marketing expert and author Bob Burg's 1994 words, "All things being equal, people will do business with and refer business to those people they know, like, and trust," have stood the test of time.
It's human nature.
Since 1994, corporations have tried to replace this philosophy with neuroscience tactics to buy our attention and build our trust around a manufactured sense of security.
Trust is the foundation of human relationships, connections, and business worldwide. [1]
Let’s sweep the brain…

What has changed is why we trust them, what types of businesses they are, and where trust is built.
In 2024, we demand that businesses take greater responsibility for their employees' welfare, create a diverse and equitable market, and improve the environment for our cities, towns, and the world.
Let's take a deeper look at this from a like-hearted entrepreneurial perspective.
Why we trust when we buy: [2]
Types of business:
"In a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, 86 percent of people said small businesses have a positive effect on the way things are going in the country these days, up from 80 percent in October 2022." [3]
We're tired of how things have been done in business and larger organizations. People are looking for deeper connections and better communities. We want to buy from humans, support local businesses, and love the experience.
As a like-hearted entrepreneur, it's our time to shine!
Where Trust is Built:
In the larger market, brands are made and broken by the media and require more than advertising to make a purchase impact. Whether you are a large brand or a small to mid-size business, there is knowledge to consider.
Exciting news from a recent study shows that once you engage with a customer and prove you are trustworthy, they can be a customer for life.
Not only will they continue to buy from you, but they'll also recommend you to others.
As a like-hearted entrepreneur, you bring a unique perspective to the business world.
Your genuine approach to building relationships and trust sets you apart in a world increasingly valuing authenticity and human connection.
Remember, your story, your values, and your authenticity are what make you stand out.
Your ability to see things differently is your strength! By staying true to yourself and fostering genuine connections, you can create lasting trust with your customers—trust that rises above trends and stands the test of time.
The world needs, and is asking for, more entrepreneurs like you—who care deeply, think differently, and lead with heart.
My question for you this week is:
How do you build and maintain customer trust, and how could you deepen those connections?

What I’m reading and where to find me!
What I’m reading:
The Maid
A Novel by Nita Prose
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by.
A Clue-like, locked-room mystery and a heartwarming journey of the spirit, The Maid explores what it means to be the same as everyone else and yet entirely different—and reveals that all mysteries can be solved through connection to the human heart.

Oh, Hi! I’m Jamie Chapman
Self-proclaimed brain geek, relationship builder, and business consultant who helps heart-centered entrepreneurs and small businesses execute their big ideas.
Think of me as your strategic C.O.O. and partner in business success and growth.
I have always been a curious person who thrives on helping others succeed.
Finding solutions is what I do.
When my twin boys were diagnosed with ADHD in elementary school, I had to learn how to navigate a school system that wasn’t built for neurodiverse individuals. By helping my boys find ways to succeed in these spaces, I realized the importance of shining a light on the gifts we bring to the world.
In a society that tries to “fit a round peg into a square hole,” I am here to support entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to take a different path to success.
While supporting small businesses in various industries, I have a special place in my heart for neurodiverse entrepreneurs and ADHD business owners.
Relationships and a holistic, human view of your business needs is something I value.
I meet you where you’re at and support you in getting where you want to go.
With a multifaceted approach to problem-solving, and extensive knowledge of executive functioning, habit formation, and the neurodiverse and ADHD entrepreneur’s mind, I support small business owners to thrive and feel proud of what they’re building.
My background is in manufacturing and business operations. I use my decades of experience with developing systems and processes to make your business operations smoother and more efficient.
As a perspective integrator and big-picture thinker, I want to help you execute your vision, spot inefficiencies, and find effective ways to grow your business.
Whether it’s 1:1 Consulting, MindSweep Mapping, or joining our Chickbook Creative community of business owners, I support idea generators in cultivating clarity and taking action to pursue their best ideas.
My purpose is to illuminate the gifts business owners and entrepreneurs bring to the world. I can’t wait to meet you and get started.
