Lidl wins yellow label court battle against Tesco

The High UK's Court has announced its verdict on the trademark battle between Lidl and Tesco, ruling that Lidl’s logo, a yellow circle on a square blue background, was copied by Tesco for its Clubcard logo.

According to the BBC, Lidl initiated the lawsuit in 2020, claiming that Tesco had infringed the registered trademark rights in Lidl’s logo. Read more.

UPSIDE Foods updates industry on cultured meat developments

Months after getting the green light from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its cultivated chicken, UPSIDE Foods' has announced a range of follow-on ground meat products made using animal cells.

New Food previously reported on the landmark FDA approval which made headlines across the world. Its significance was down to Upside Food’s cultured chicken being the first ever completed pre-market consultation by the Administration of a human food made from cultured animal cells. Read more.

The global vegan market was estimated to be worth USD 24.59 billion (approximately £18.5 billion) in 2022 and it is expected to nearly double by 2028. In the UK alone, 1.4 million people follow a vegan diet, which equates to 2.6 percent of the population. Asda signs agreement to deliver sustainable sourcing commitments

Supermarket giant Asda has signed up for the global LEAF Marque Environmental Assurance System, a certification that the retailer will use across its UK fresh fruit and vegetables. Hoping that the LEAF Marque certification will help to “strengthen its environmental standards”, Asda has highlighted that the system provides independent, third-party verification around core areas of sustainable farming practice.
