We're not "doing" Imposter Syndrome anymore.
Welcome to the VA Insider Newsletter, the place to be for tips and tools to build a thriving Virtual Assistant business.
Do you ever feel like "a fraud," or doubt your abilities as VA? If so, you might be experiencing "Imposter Syndrome."
You may feel self-doubt about your skills. You may have a paralyzing fear of making mistakes. You might constantly downplay your accomplishments because they're "not a big deal."
Let me be the first one to tell you: It has taken me years of practice (and therapy) to overcome my own imposter syndrome! So while you might feel overwhelmed right now, it is possible to adopt more of a growth mindset (like Adam Grant shares in the photo below).
I developed some questions to help us all kick doubt and insecurity to the curb:
✅ Question 1: Can you recall a specific instance when you experienced imposter syndrome in your VA role? What situation brought on those feelings, and how did you navigate or overcome them?
✅ Question 2: What are some of your unique strengths and skills? How do you remind yourself of these strengths when imposter syndrome creeps in
✅ Question 3: What strategies or resources have you found effective in fighting imposter syndrome? Are there any specific things that help you regain confidence and overcome self-doubt?

I'm curious to hear your responses. If you're inclined to share them, comment below and share how you overcame imposter syndrome!
That's all for this week. Cheers to your continued success!

7moImposter syndrome is a common feeling and it is mostly caused by lack of feedback, isolation, high expectations and comparison to others especially seeing their success on social media or other professional platforms. Personally, these are ways that help me overcome imposter syndrome 1. I keep records of my accomplishments, successful projects and positive feedback from clients. I refer to this list when self-doubt creeps in to remind me of my capabilities. 2. I ask clients for feedback on my work. Positive feedback can boost your confidence, and constructive feedback can help you improve without diminishing your worth. 3. I connect with other VAs or freelancers to sharing experiences and challenges and this helps normalize feelings of doubt and provide reassurance that I am not alone. 4. I break down larger projects into manageable tasks and set achievable goals. I celebrate small wins to build confidence and reduce overwhelming feelings. By implementing these strategies, it has reduced the impact of imposter syndrome and built greater confidence in my abilities as a virtual assistant. Remember, it's normal to experience self-doubt, but it doesn't define your capabilities or worth.

7moThanks for sharing Erin Booth At some point, I didn't want to start my journey as a VA because I felt there was so much to do, learn, and adapt to. But finally, I did, and guess what? I am proud of that decision today💪🏽 My only regret is not starting earlier than I did. Your YouTube channel was my home at some point. Thank you for sharing useful information.
