What 3 Skills does a CEO need to Scale Up Past 7 and 8 Figures?

You may not see yourself as a CEO, but I'm here to tell you if you run a business and you are looking to grow it or to scale it up, then it's key that you shift your identity. After all, being a Managing Director firmly puts you in the box of somebody running the business and not somebody focused on growing it.

So what are the top 3 skills I think are critical to develop as a CEO who is focused on creating expansion opportunities?

Skill No. 1 is - Clarity & Commitment

Skill No. 2 is - Empower & Energising

Skill No. 3 is - Organise & Optimise

The first skill is one a lot of coaching clients often struggle with because they become trapped in the head down of the day-to-day operations.

Skill number 1 starts with getting Clarity on the Vision for your life and the business. This is followed by clarity on your Values and Strategy that will be key to navigating the 7 figure journey. Once all these are in place, then you can test your level of Commitment when adversity hits, as it's guaranteed to do when you have to navigate changing market conditions, new technologies or employment trends. Resilience comes from a personal commitment to keep growing, to keep learning and to never be afraid to ask for help or support.

Secondly, all good CEO's know how to Empower and Energise their people. This is a critical success skill and why EQ is more important than IQ as you scale the team, who in turn scale the business. By empowering others you start creating a culture of accountability and support. Your team will be made up of the 4 natural energies and understanding this and how to energise them enables you to create the habits of high performance and positive productivity.

Finally, you must have the ability to Organise and Optimise, not just your thinking and your time, but how you invest your human and financial capital. This is crucial and needs to align with the clarity you had earlier on your vision, values and strategy. These are two very important assets you have as a CEO and they can enable you to fund and fuel your next level of expansion. But remember, if not harnessed properly these can cause you to lose margin and money and that no scale-up can afford to waste.
