What Challenges Your Endurance?
What challenges your endurance? This was the icebreaker question during Creative Mornings, a fun event I attended on Friday. This month's theme was "endurance," and we had the pleasure of listening to Drew Harrington, Co-Founder of Yasso. You know, those delicious frozen Greek yogurt bars.
Drew's journey was like an entrepreneurial rollercoaster. He's had the kind of highs that make you feel on top of the world and lows that have you questioning your sanity. Let's face it, going up against some of the biggest brands in the frozen dessert market is like challenging Godzilla to a wrestling match. But Drew and his Co-Founder (and kindergarten bestie), Amanda Klane, never gave up. Soaked in grit, determination, passion, and endurance, they built a massively successful business and sold it to Unilever, the world's largest ice cream manufacturer.
We love stories like Drew's because oftentimes, we see pieces of ourselves in their journey. We're reminded that in this great adventure called life, we've got to keep creating. We must keep building what we find interesting and important. We must figure out how to do our best work and create what we're meant to create, no matter what obstacles are thrown our way.
Endurance is the secret sauce. It's our ability to ride the wave when life becomes an unpredictable stormy sea. It's about sustaining that extraordinary effort, even when we feel like giving up. Drew and his team faced more curveballs than a major league pitcher, but they didn't back down. They kept their eyes on the prize: building something truly remarkable.
Regardless of where we are in our careers or creative projects, we have the power to choose. We can choose to keep showing up, even when it feels like we're stuck in quicksand. Getting through the hard stuff is our boot camp. It's where we grow those endurance muscles and master the skills to level up our game.
So here's to the art of endurance, fellow creator. May it fuel your wildest dreams and empower you to keep chasing them, no matter what challenges come your way.
Keep building your creative life.
