What Happens When You Have A Powerful Solid Foundation

What Happens When You Have A Powerful Solid Foundation

Listen To The Newsletter Here

Let’s go back to the very beginning…

Clear back to when you first decided to become an entrepreneur and start a business.

Why?

Because this is where the core foundation of your business is formed.

If you don’t have a solid core foundation in the beginning your business is doomed.

Often times we just assume the core foundation is in place and we begin to move forward.

I know I did.

I had an early coach that tried to teach me about the importance of a core foundation but I didn’t listen…

I wanted to provide for my family and work from home…

I thought this was a core foundation enough.

Let’s just say the first year of my career was a complete struggle.

I had a few clients, some small victories, and several successful pieces of copy…

But I encountered something else too…

Something I wasn’t prepared for…

Mighty winds.

Eventually, all the clients dried up…

I got Covid and was forced to take a month off…

And to pay the bills after Covid I had to go find something we as entrepreneurs see in our nightmares…

A dreaded full-time job.

I failed…

And that wasn’t the only time in my career I’ve failed.

I’ve failed over… and over… and over.

All because I did not have a solid core foundation.

Here’s what I can tell you about failure.

As you're trying to start and grow your small business there will be winds of opposition.

Mighty oaks grow in strong winds.

As an entrepreneur, you're proposing to become a mighty oak.

I don’t know why you decided to start your business but I’m going to take a guess.

You wanted uncommon freedom, wealth, and an amazing lifestyle.

It’s absolutely guaranteed there will be challenges along the way.

When your winds of opposition come up what’s going to get you through them…

And turn you into a mighty oak?

I’ve noticed in my 5 years of running my own copywriting business…

That the secret to getting through these winds of opposition is to develop a clear vision of who you want to become.

The easiest way to develop this vision is to focus on doing these 2 things:

  1. Aspirations: Aspirations are where you have a clear picture in your head of somebody you want to become.

I use 3 categories for my aspirations.

I’m sure there are a lot of categories you could use but in my past experience, these targeted categories are the most important.

Who do you want to become in terms of relationships, personal health, and finances?

A year from now when you do become the person you pictured…

This becomes a launch pad to become somebody even bigger and better.

Aspirations when done right keep you in a constant growth mindset.

This is why they are so valuable.

2. Goals. Tiger Woods is one of the best golfers to ever play the sport.

He never focuses on outcomes, he never focuses on winning more majors, and he doesn’t focus on what other golfers around him are doing…

Tiger focuses on his process.

He focuses on his putting stroke, his technique, his swing, and his short game.

Tiger said his dad taught him early on that if he could get his processes and routines down and perform them at a high level the results would naturally come.

Think about this in your own business.

A lot of times we set goals that are outside of our control.

There are things with these goals that we can’t dictate.

What we can do is define what choices we make and set goals in those categories.

In other words, if you can get your own processes and routines down just like Tiger Woods then the needle in your business will move on its own.

These processes and routines need to be specific things…

And they actually need to be needle drivers.

For example, setting a goal to post every day on LinkedIn.

Here’s The Real Deal

It’s inevitable…

As you start to grow your small business…

You're going to encounter winds of opposition.

This is actually a good thing.

Because winds of opposition will turn you and your business into a mighty oak…

The way you get through winds of opposition is to do daily affirmations…

Picturing in your mind where you want to be in relationships, personal health, and finances.

And also setting goals inside of your processes and routines.

Speaking about goals I better go.

The Green Goats set a goal to help the fainting goat aspire to be green.

They currently have him tied up in the back shed and are shaking their green spray paint cans…

I better go stop them before that poor fainting goat gets covered in green paint.

Remember… having a solid foundation makes everything else in small business easier.

Create a process and practice it with intention every day to be the best at it. Everything else takes care of itself. This is a great core knowledge. One that many miss as they are bombarded with offers from others to shortcut the process. It's taken me a couple years to realize it, but that's where I'm going this year. I'll let you know how it turns out at the end of the year Bobbie :)
