What if?

What if?

What if success (or value, or impact) was not measured by how many things you made, or sold, or acquired, but by:

  • How many of your team members signed up to learn something new in support of a goal bigger than themselves?
  • How many of your business partners raise their hand to support a new way of doing things, trusting that change means a bigger impact to a bigger goal?
  • How many former team members, connections, colleagues applied to the jobs you posted, even if at the end of the conversation they say “I applied because of you, but I realized after talking to you, this is not the right time”?
  • How many people who have nothing to gain by their connection to you reach out to say “I want to introduce you to someone else”?
  • How many friends use your product or service because it's making their life better, not because they feel obligated?
  • How many conversations you had this week that started out about a work/business connection and ended up introducing you to a new idea, a new way of thinking, a new way of seeing the message the universe is sending you?
  • How many times you said “thank you” to someone who made your life easier, better, simpler?
  • How many times you said “yes” vs. how many times you said “no”?
  • How many times you danced in your home office just because the work had meaning, the song resonated, and no one was there to judge you?

To my teams and business partners, thanks for making this an amazing two months. To Jacquelyn, thanks for being on the same wavelength and for convincing me that hawks and turtles are there to remind us of things that exist outside of our observable dimensions. For my Finance team for opening this week’s stand up with the question “What are you struggling with this week?” in a week where I needed it more than others, thank you. To Ted, I can’t wait to meet your wife.  To Maura, who doesn’t do LinkedIn, I’m looking forward to cupcakes. To my husband (who also doesn't do LinkedIn), I am here for you.  To those of you who I have yet to connect with, I can't wait to learn and grow from the things you have to share.

Wow! I absolutely love everything about this! You write from your heart and that inspires others feel instantly connected to you without even knowing you. That’s why I reached out to you on LinkedIn. I didn’t know you, but I feel connected to your story and your words, so I boldly reached out to say hi, and that I had a feeling that we could be friends, and you replied back! What was supposed to be a quick half hour Zoom business meeting turned into an hour long conversation about life, leadership and the journey we both took to get where we are today. It made me realize that we have to listen to those urges to reach out when we feel inclined to do so, to trust that whisper and go for it! Be bold and be brave, don’t play small because we’re not meant to play small. I’ve also learned that the universe puts people in your path that you’re supposed to meet in unique ways. 2020 led us to this virtual way of working, connecting and networking, and we had to all evolve to figure out how to stay connected in a heart felt way, and how to build new relationships in a unique way. So thank you Michelle for being you and for continuing to share your story with the world. I see a book in your future. ❤️
