WHAT ONE THING YOU CAN DO NOW
We are all being affected by Climate Change. There I said it.
Some people may choose to unsubscribe to my email list because I said this. AND I cannot deny facts that are beyond politics.
And the more that we can accept facts and then join together, the more likely it is that we can help our planet recover.
This topic is UP for me today because I am in the vicinity of one of the fires burning in Colorado. At one point this week, my son and I were watching as the voluntary line of evacuation was getting closer and closer to where I live. The most amazing and wonderful fire-fighters have been able to hold the fire back. Though it has grown to over 9500 acres in 5 days, the fire has moved west rather than east toward the city of Loveland. AND we are all affected by the smoke and particulates; many of us have coughs and sinus infections and I am one of the healthier people.
AND, I am so blessed that I have a house and can drive a few miles away to walk my dog. I am so concerned about all the animals and people who are not so blessed.
That is the first point I am making in this article. The next point is this:
Neil DeGrasse Tyson tells us that the fact that we are here on Planet earth and part of many galaxies almost did not happen. He explains that “before the galaxies formed, matter and antimatter ate each other up. And only when a billion-and-one photons outlasted a billion hadrons was the one remaining atomic speck given the chance to seed the living Universe. Had this irrepressible; moment swayed the other way, there would have been no galaxies or solar system or planet earth.” (as told by Mark Nepo in his book, SURIVING STORMS, pg 34).
When I read this, I was in a moment of miraculous shock.
I read on to find that from the Greek, Photon means Light and Hadron means thick and heavy.
What does this have to do with right here and right now.
EVERYTHING!
If our Universe was created because there was one more proton, and proton means light, we are all asked, what one positive action may we take so the Universe keeps going?

This means seeking to do the right thing even when it is hard.
In my life, I usually seek to do the “right thing”.
It always shocks me that there are many people who do not seek to do the right thing. They have become closed in on themselves and seek only to do what will bring them one more moment of gratification.
Right now, the world, the universe, is asking all of us with ears to hear, eyes to see and hearts to feel to do all that we can to be that “one more positive photon” that will make the difference. In this day and age; in this political climate, it is so easy to close in on ourselves and become that thick and heavy, self-centered and narcissistic Hadron.
One more dangerous position that one can take beyond positive or negative leads to indifference and neutrality:
“When we look more closely at the construction of matter, we see that one neutron is necessary in every atom as a stabilizing force between a proton and an electron. However, the stark subatomic reality is that an excess of neutrons destabilizes an atom, basically blowing it apart”. (Mark Nepo from Surviving Storms)
The lesson here is that to take a neutral or passive or even a “toxically positive” stance toward others to whom we could easily say, “I see you, I am here”, is what will lead to the destruction of humanity as much as the “hadronic” stance.
I believe that there is Goodness within all of us, thus the protons. And there is also the opposite of Goodness within, metaphorically called the Hadrons . We can also choose to be neutral or passive or take the stance, of being Toxically Positive.
The only way our universe will continue is for conscious people to take one more protonic action to outweigh the hadronic action.
As more and more of us seek to do this, we will make the difference.
