What Outplacement Isn't Telling You

What Outplacement Isn't Telling You

Your outplacement advisor is probably really nice. They'll listen to you vent, even give you a shoulder to cry on. They'll encourage you and tell you that it's not that bad and you'll find a job fast.

But that's their job ... to get you to vent to them, so you won't vent to a lawyer. Outplacement firms aren't hired to help you find a job, they're hired to reduce risks of lawsuits. And that's where almost all of your employer's investment is spent - For people to listen to you.

Since only a small part of your employer's investment is spent on job search advice, what you get is very basic and ineffective job search advice, especially during recessions.

Here are a few things your outplacement firm isn't telling you:

  • They aren't telling you the right things to find your next job fast, or even at all.
  • They aren't telling you the resume/job search strategies they teach during recessions were only intended to work during strong job markets (but they're teaching them anyway).
  • They aren't telling you the level of competition you'll face - Employers expect 10-20 qualified candidates for each interview spot (that's 50-100 qualified candidates for 5 interview spots).
  • They aren't telling you the resume they prepared for you isn't enough to get interviews when you're qualified against so many competitors ... because their resume will portray you as just an average candidate (and there are many average qualified candidates).
  • They aren't telling you they've taught you to search for a job based on random applications, volume, and luck, or that this strategy slows your search and fails during recessions.
  • They aren't telling you that an unfocused job search takes much longer and often fails.
  • They aren't telling you to invest enough time customizing each individual resume.
  • They aren't telling you the employers view cover letters as a distraction.
  • They aren't telling you that ageless resumes lead to compliance interviews, just to inflate employer numbers of age 40+ interviews.
  • They aren't telling you that applying online gives you hopeless odds of success in landing a job.

They aren't telling you that the help they give isn't enough for you to find a job quickly during recessions, or even at all.

Because if they told you any of these things, they wouldn't be doing their job ... discouraging you from suing.

But the good news is, I can teach you resume/job search strategies that are designed to help you find a job fast during recessions if you're unemployed, age 40+ or have reasons your job search isn't easy. I teach strategies tat are designed to help the toughest job search problems - Many of the problems you're currently facing. I'll show you how to make your resume stand head-and-shoulders over your competition, and how to change your search strategy to give you an advantage over your competiton.

This is the 3rd recession I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recessions. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recession job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers this March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November - every week since mid-March.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.

But I've been teaching job seekers to overcome unemployment for 13+ years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to beat unemployment (even if you're over 40 or have other job search challenges) and find a job by year end by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 16+ years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find a job by year end, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers or location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
