What is "Unfazed Leadership?"

Merriam-Webster defines “Unfazed” as “Undaunted.” Which is further defined as:

“…courageously resolute especially in the face of danger or difficulty: not discouraged”

As a leader, you build confident resilience in yourself and your team by remaining unfazed despite the difficulties and opposition you face.

In Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If” he tees up this idea in the first stanza:

“If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

   But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:”

---------------------------

I encourage you to read (or re-read) Kipling’s remaining three stanzas for more application of this idea.

What is it you and your team are facing today? Are you fearful, losing confidence, losing hope?

What is one step you can take today which will move you in the right direction?

Will you take that step?

Will you have the courage to find even a small thing you can achieve today?

Will you build the confidence you need to take a second step... and a third?

Will you be Unfazed?

Couldn't agree more, Ed! 💯 A true leader is resilient and unbothered despite anything.

I was mistaken, should have said Sydney harbor. I was there working outside Sydney in Homebush after the Olympics. Stayed in Sydney and walked every night to the many fine restaurants around the harbor.

I have been studying Courageous leadership for a while, but I love the phrase "unfazed leadership." What a great concept! And Kipling's "If" is one of my all-time favorites. We read it/recite it to the boys almost every night!
