Have you ever wondered why someone behaves a certain way? Has it seemed totally irrational? Did it make you angry? Did it make you belittle the other? We only know a tiny part of what is going on in another person's life. You might be surprised what compassion can do.

2yWhy does that remind me about #impactinvesting and #impactinvestors ...? And "just aside", I consider you a friend. I don't need to know all about you. Heck, what do I know about my own wife and kids really - a bit more I hope, but you get what I mean? And ... how well do I know myself really?
Small minds need fast judgements - charting the territory quickly provides the illusion of safety which soothes the nerves. Researchers have linked stress sensitivity / reactivity to personality traits - specifically to the level of neuroticism (OCEAN model) (see my last post for details) Approaching matters with an open mind risks cognitive overload which we tend to avoid. But taking others’ perspectives, empathy and compassion are social skills that can be learned and would support felationa patterns conducive to functional social systems.
