What's on in Q2...
October // Issue 6
Christmas is only 72 sleeps!
Sorry, we just blurted that out! But hey, that's the reality; Christmas really isn't too far away. Eeek!
Last week was a biggie for us. Lee and Nick ventured to Brisbane, meeting with some incredible architecture and engineering clients to gear up for an exciting 2025. And what a trip, hey, Brissie?
After a whirlwind couple of days filled with back-to-back meetings, a round of golf at Royal Queensland Golf Club (nice work, Nick!), and an awesome networking event at Felon’s Brewery, they’ve successfully strengthened existing relationships and forged a few new ones.
A big thanks to everyone who joined for the meetings, chats, and a few drinks on Tuesday night. It’s safe to say the Vivid Recruitment presence in Queensland is as strong as ever – and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
Already looking forward to the next catch-up, Brisbane!
Last week, we also celebrated World Architecture Day, with this year’s theme focusing on "Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design." The future of our cities is being shaped by emerging architects and urban designers, and it’s a pretty exciting prospect!
It got us thinking about its origins and what it truly means, so we thought we would explore it a little more. In our latest blog post, we looked at the history of this day, why it’s important, and how past themes have influenced the architecture industry. Whether you're a design enthusiast or an industry professional, it’s worth a read!
Check out the full blog on our website and see how this year's celebration highlighted the importance of creating inclusive, sustainable cities. Read more > Celebrating World Architecture Day 2024.

EVENTS // What's coming up that's interesting?
VIC - Engineering pathways
The event focuses on showcasing case studies from diverse disciplines, highlighting projects that the speakers have personally worked on. Each case study delves into the technical aspects of these projects, emphasizing how challenges were overcome and goals achieved.
A key theme of the event is demonstrating how the speakers managed competing priorities alongside their technical responsibilities. This event is a collaboration between the Structural College and Women In Engineering.
VIC - North East link SEM ventilation tunnel and adit construction
The construction of the North East Link (NEL) tunnels is well underway. The largest transport infrastructure project in Victorian history consists of 6.5 km tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen, and it will complete Melbourne’s orbital freeway network.
This presentation will provide an overview of the recently constructed ventilation tunnel and adits using the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM). The key topics include primary support types and selection criteria, construction sequence and methodology, observational ground behaviour and support optimisation on-site. The event is organised by the Young Members Committee of the Australasian Tunnelling Society Victorian Chapter.
VIC - Australasian Structural Engineering Conference 2024
Fostering a vibrant exchange of ingenious ideas among colleagues from Australia and around the world ASEC 2024 serves as a nexus for structural engineering practitioners, professionals, academics and students alike.
This year's hybrid program promises inspiring plenary sessions, technical insights from your peers, thought-provoking panel discussions, and ample networking opportunities. ASEC 2024 will propel you to the forefront, delving into structural engineering for a sustainable future.
VIC - 2024 AILA Innovation Symposium
Embracing Change is a symposium focused on creating a robust dialogue about what it means to innovate in the Australian landscape architecture profession. Perspectives from small to large organisations lend insights about the strategies, courage and hard work of paving new ways in the market through leadership, technology and design.
This event is being held the day after the National Landscape Architecture Awards.
