When December Leaves

When December Leaves

I never held her tight as I looked deep into her eyes

I never told her all the things I should.

I never once sat her down and admitted all my lies

I never loved her as well as I could.

I always found a way to make sure she could smile

I always made sure she was fed

I took her shopping when she decided to stay awhile

I never asked her to share my bed.

I did all the things that she asked, never questioned why?

I was quiet when ever she wanted

I kept her safe from her ex, a very horrible guy

I faced dangers for her undaunted

I love her for the way she tries to solve my daily trials

I love her for the care she's shown me.

I love her imperfections like the missing tooth in her smile;

I love her for staying single and free.

She offered my body the wine held in love's cup

She forgave me all the stupid things I had done

She did apologize when she some how slipped up

So she loved me as much she could love anyone.

I accepted a romance measured by a number of days

I accept now she will always be in my heart

I accept her for the cruel things she will thoughtlessly say

As I accept that if she drinks beer she farts

But the most important thing was she accepted me in full

But I still must say goodbye and walk away.

For she needs another man whose shine isn't old and dull

Every romance has its own blood tax to pay

I love it, wow!......Mazza!..Gwendolyn
