When I was fifteen I wanted to be an Astronaut. I was inspired by a combination of the Tang my Mom gave us every morning for breakfast (from an early age) and the space program that was frequently in the news. I had no idea what it took to become an Astronaut or what type of education or training or time was involved.

At some point my career inspiration changed and I found my way to IT sales, which has been my career for the past 20 years. I couldn't have chosen a better career path for me and I love it.

Thinking back to when I was 15, I can see now that I had STEM leanings even back then. I am a big proponent of STEM and I hope to see more women take up careers in STEM. I'm proud to say that my daughter is close to graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and Minors in Math and Mapping. I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree after all. I’m proud of her.
