Where have YOU been?
Here's the thing about social media. It's a 24hr 365 commitment, with a beating heart, a hive of activity and an insatiable hunger for content.
There's a reason why this is someone's FULL TIME JOB.
So don't get caught up in feeding the beast when you have better things to do.
You have an actual job to do. You provide a service to your own clients, you network for your business and you have a life/family waiting for you to "get off your phone" or "shutdown the laptop".
We need to save you time.
Lifetime.
The truth is, I haven't been as active on LinkedIn myself because business is going well and I have rather a lot going on in my personal life. I am serving my clients, looking after my family and working through some stuff.
Some days, I just don't have capacity to spread the love, feed the beast or come back to reply to all your lovely comments (which are ALWAYS read and appreciated)
I wrote a post earlier this week about my recent trip to Pompeii. I made this point which really seemed to resonate with so many of you.
Life changed so quickly for those living in Pompeii, and the pace of life today is no different. Do the thing
Of course, I wasn't talking about organised crime or something boring like doing your tax return (although you should probably do the latter and definitely not the former) I was talking about doing the things that you've always wanted to do.
The things you hope to "get around to" at some point.
Why are you making excuses?
If you want it, if it will improve your life, if it will make you happy - do it.
Then share it with the rest of us.
Content on social media is dreadfully dull, negative or self centered and actually, we have a lot to celebrate between the 1 billion members in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Yup, that's official from LinkedIn themselves.
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR COOKIE CUTTER CONTENT.
We have over a billion unique members.

Unique stories and perspectives.
So why do we jump on bandwagons?
BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE VISIBLE.
However, impressions that do not make an impression are simply 30 seconds of viewing before they continue doom scrolling.
If you're feeling a bit Ariel, you have to start looking for real people, talking about real things and genuinely active to make an impact on this here platform.
Be more mermaid.
Maybe you've fallen out of love with the platform.
You wouldn't be alone. I've been hearing this for months.
So think about it this way - what kind of content do you want to read?
Could you start producing it?
Could you start those conversations?
Are you ready to participate?
Anyway - after a long flight, drive and day with the kids yesterday, those were just my Friday musings. No, I'm not here all the time. But when I am, I'm ready to engage and make that time count.
Could I help you to achieve the safe?
Let me know how you're using the platform and if we haven't, why not reach out for a 121? You never know where it might lead...
Have a great long weekend (yes, it is a bank holiday)

6moThanks Odessa. For me it starts with Determination. Habit then follows. And, after that, Motivation - is it like that for you? I'd love to know:-)

7moNot having the capacity is what I completely relate to, we have those days, weeks, months and thats ok. We all have different priorities and to be honest its healthy to take a digital break here & there 😁
