Who knows what grandpa Carlo would have said
Among the 2022 winners of the prestigious Compasso D'Oro Award stands the name of Rosy Vago, who has always been the heart and engine of Vago Forniture (www.vago.com).
Rosy Vago has been awarded with Compasso d’Oro Career Award, by ADI, Associazione per il Design Industriale with that motivation: “A long love affair with quality design, a story full of affection such as that for her husband Antonio and sons Davide and Simone, a story full of deep values such as friendship, honesty, and consistency. A long story full of courage, that helped them interpret and anticipate the needs of an increasingly global market”.
Vago operates with the most qualified international brand design and receives the contract committed in every corner of the world. It’s Official Dealer of more than 150 italian and international top design brands, constantly evolving according to the market trends and news.
Vago Forniture was founded in the late 20s by Carlo Vago as a workshop in the heart of Brianza. In a century of history, and after three generations, it is today qualified as a global design advisor and consultant for interior design. It deals with projecting and furnishing, as well as with the most functional, technical, legal, logistic aspects of an apartment, big houses or offices. But also business district, showrooms, atelier, fashion shops, newsrooms and financial operating offices.
It all started out in Barlassina, in the heart of Brianza, the Italian Furniture Valley, where Mario Asnago and Claudio Vender (two of the leading architects of the twentieth century) were born, along with Valentino Vago: a master painter who studied at Brera and who was Antonio’s brother. Thanks to their close relationship, a new approach emerged: one characterised by a culture that leads to major and innovative choices midway between art and design, making the company a cultural undertaking even more than a commercial one.

“I owe my beginnings to Dino Gavina and Mrs Simoncini, to my frequentation of the shop in Via Cerva: that marked the dawn of Flos, Cassina and the Scarpa. After meeting them I set aside my small-scale production in the Brianza style, and with the contribution of my brother Valentino and his colleagues at the Brera Academy, I started to produce my first designed pieces.” Antonio Vago recounted this in an interview with Gap magazine in May 1988, showing that he was a true forerunner, founder and promoter of a taste that would later become synonymous with everything ‘Made in Italy’.
Rosy Vago has managed Antonio Vago Arredamenti since 1964, with her husband, founded in 1956 and heir to a craft business that began in the 1920s. In 1981 she opened a showroom Barlassina (Monza and Brianza), with objects by Le Corbusier harmonizing with sculptures by Fausto Melotti and paintings by Valentino Vago.
Rosy, a passionate collector of furnishing objects, has always managed professional relationships with architects, designers, and artists, sponsoring cultural initiatives.
Well deserved, Rosy, Davide and Simone, is a success story of a family business that has always known how to combine hard work, innovation and Italian style.
My grandpa Carlo will certainly be very proud of it.
