WHY DO LAWYERS POSSESS STABILITY AND STRENGTH?
According to the ABA National Lawyer Population Survey, there are over 1,300,705 lawyers in the United States. At one time or another, most individuals seek an attorney.
People often ask me,
"Pamela, how did you end up specializing and coaching attorneys?"
That is a great question, and I often ask myself the same thing.
You might say I was "chosen" by lawyers.
Since I began coaching in Southern California in the early 1990s, 60% of my clients that came to me were lawyers. The numbers kept increasing and so I have been working with attorneys since then.
It has become my way of life. I love my work and my clients.
While I focus on helping lawyers overcome some of the fallout from practicing law, people need to understand the sacrifice these men and women make to become good lawyers.
My Clients Are Smart And Accomplished
The journey to becoming a lawyer starts with a bachelor's degree. Entrance into law school is not easy, and to graduate requires diligence, study, and sacrifice. Yet, they pulled it off all by themselves.
Next, passing the Bar is no easy feat. Some lawyers take this difficult exam a few times to pass. That is just the beginning for any lawyer to be allowed to practice law.
The training to become a lawyer requires learning to trust their instincts, ability to make quick decisions.
They are required to translate mountains of structured and unstructured information into clear and decisive arguments, research documents, interpret laws, and advise their clients on their legal rights or obligations.
Successful lawyers possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. I might add, most of them have mastered the art of body language as well.
A good lawyer understands that 90% of their communication is what they don't say, so they say it with facial expressions, body posture, and even how they walk.
The best expression for any lawyer is "no expression."

My Clients Are Confident
A lawyer makes thousands of decisions and assessments about risk, timing, pace, advantage, leverage, and value and, in many cases, without the benefit of absolute certainty, knowledge, or a complete assessment of the facts.
My Clients Have Well-Developed Analytical Skills
Lawyers absorb and digest a great deal of information. Once he or she begins to prepare cases, they must then be able to organize and analyze the information in a logical manner.
When more than one law or precedent applies to a situation, an attorney must evaluate which argument best advances their cause.

3yEuro lawyers, in the main, are not even so nearly as advanced in their study of how they are perceived. USA lawyers are infinitely more evolved in this respect. The whole lawyer to life coach is just hitting this continent in recent years. A big and disappointing dichotomy if you are at the coal face.
