Why Don't You Try Self-Motivation?

One of the most common questions I have been asked in interview rooms as a 'Recruiter' is 'How do you motivate your staff?' Not a bad question, but it's important to be more creative as a candidate... think more about the value you are bringing to the organization, rather than what the organization is giving you, even though that's important.

Back to my topic, self-motivation is a skill that everyone needs to develop. I like to say, that no one owes us anything. When you have such high expectations of people then you are bound to be disappointed several times. But when you have high expectations of yourself, then you bring your best self to whatever you do, and you do it wholeheartedly. When you are self-motivated, you are the kind of person who is not waiting to be told what you did or didn't do, you show up at work 110%, and you are excited about your work and what you bring to the organization.

Self-motivation develops thanksgiving. You are more grateful for what you have rather than what you don't have. You are more grateful for life, for your job, etc., and you have a positive outlook on your work and your organization. Pause... How many times have you told your boss thank you, or a colleague for going out of their way?

Self-motivation drives you to learn more, grow more, and be a better person because you are looking not only to bring your best self to work but to bring out the best in others.

Before you think about how the organization is motivating you, why don't you look inwardly ... this year must not end with you at the same level. Decide to be excellent and show up with excellence! Decide to be the best.

You are more than what you think!

Learning to be this self-motivated person everyday. It has to come from within me.

" When you are self-motivated, you are the kind of person who is not waiting to be told what you did or didn't do, you show up at work 110%, and you are excited about your work and what you bring to the organization. " An Ace that I will like to keep.

I love my work, and I have personally never looked to be motivated by the organization I work with... I do my work with joy and when time is up in that organization, I just know I need to move on because I love my peace of mind and knowing that I'm doing meaningful work.
