Why Employers Don't Get Excited About Qualified Age 40+ Job Seekers

There's usually a reason when employers aren't interested in you if you're an age 40+ job seeker.

And while there are exceptions, it's not typically because employers have something against older job seekers.

But they usually perceive that you'll have higher compensation requirements than less senior candidates, especially when applying for higher level positions.

For more highly compensated candidates, hiring managers naturally want to know if you're worth it, especially during a recession. And that's often the cause of the problems many age 40+ job seekers face.

You know you're worth it. But most job seekers do a poor job of proving you're worth it in your resume and interviews to employers ... and there's a common reason.

Instead of describing yourself in a way that proves you're worth it, most age 40+ job seekers have been taught to describe themselves as qualified and to describe responsibilities/experience. Almost everyone does this ... and you probably do also, because it's how you've been taught to think of your career.

But this description causes you to undersell yourself. By describing your qualifications, responsibilities and experience you force employers to guess if you were a success or a failure. Instead you focus on what you were supposed to do, rather than how well you did it.

This type of description may show that you're qualified, but that's not enough when employers perceive higher compensation. This description fails to prove you're worth it. When you fail to prove you're worth it, why wouldn't an employer consider giving a less experienced, but less expensive candidate a shot at the job ... instead of you?

What if you could learn how to change how you describe yourself and your career, so you can prove you're worth it to employers? Let me teach you how to prove you're worth it, along with other ways to overcome ageism in your search, so you can find a great job fast.

This is the 3rd recession and recovery I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during the toughest job markets. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process. You're probably making similar mistakes, without realizing it.

But I've been teaching job seekers to beat Applicant Tracking Systems for 14 years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than appearing average. I'll show you how to beat the ATS and find a great job fast by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 17 years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can beat the ATS and find your next job fast during a highly competitive job market, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers/industry/location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
