Why Facebook Will Have to Eat Itself | No Pressure | mrfow.com
Facebook or Instagram will have to eat itself to survive for the next ten years. Easily.
They continue to struggle with content moderation, privacy, security transparency, and slowing, reducing, or eliminating toxicity across their ecosystem.
Facebook will have to eat itself to survive the next ten years of tech. I guarantee you.
In fact, Mark and their board will probably attempt injecting Clubhouse into their ecosystem before eating themselves, which is just foolish. I wouldn’t make that business decision.
I would actually kill the keystone product that helped me achieve all my success.
Facebook will have to eat itself. And it would be in their best interest actually. 2B MAUs comes with catastrophic downside user experience issues especially when inclusive design, ethics, and privacy were not considered from day one. Just saying.
It just depends on how and when. Facebook can still be successful after eating their keystone platform (the facebook app). They just have to stop treating it like an engagement engine. The more they do that, the worse things will become. I am soooo serious. My thoughts are based on subjective and objective data that I've been receiving as I manage our brand communities on Facebook! :)
The only prominent ad-based platform that won’t need to do this is actually Google. Google's ecosystem is a bit different. It doesn't rely on one or two or three communication or social platforms. It just relies on the web, links, and deep ecosystem partnerships across media/entertainment, vendors, and ad buyers and they have the product/platform infrastructure to continue to sustain as we transition to Web. 3.0 in which we'll see the convergence of AR/MR/Mobile/Omni-channel Retail.
Google is just toooooo entrenched across every layer of our humanity, with that said, there are search start-ups who are coming for Google and may out-grow them / out-brand them in the long-term. I’m seeing amazing deals in this space.
Just my two cents. Anyways. Happy day one.
Sidenote: Instagram and Facebook are literally the same company being that they are managed by Facebook and your data is hosted on Facebook’s on-site data centers / serverless provisions / APIs, just in case you didn’t know that. FYI.
Okay. Bye! Happy Day One!
