Why Use “Water Miscible Washing Solution” for Blanket & Roller Cleaning
A water miscible wash does not contain any water, but it has the ability to chemically link with water. By coupling water and solvent together, you form an "emulsion" (this mixture will appear milky-white until it separates back into its solvent and water components).
By using a water-miscible wash, the solvents remove ink and other solvent soluble contaminants on rollers and blankets, while the water part of the emulsion removes water-soluble glaze, lint, paper and gum. Therefore, in a single wash-up, you can thoroughly clean the press.
Water miscible washes can also be used straight with a water rinse as a second step, or they can be applied to blankets with a wet rag.
By adding 20% to 50% water to the water miscible wash, you can reduce your product cost, lower your V.O.C.'s, and lessen the emission of solvent in the pressroom.
