Windows 11: Upgrade or Not?
As we all know several available devices in the market are not able to upgrade to the Windows 11. In the past, I always recommend users and IT Professionals to upgrade to the latest version of Windows because they could just deploy Windows without much hardware issue and with minor hardware upgrade like upgrading the RAM. I had experience of installing Windows 10 on a PC running Windows XP and all I have to change was upgrading the RAM from 512MB to 1GB and their experience is great. I do observe some issues with drivers but we could solve them. However, this is not the case with Windows 11. In most cases in order to upgrade to the Windows 11, you will have to purchase a new device. Microsoft shared a method of bypassing certain requirements but this would put the device as not support status and it means updates might not work or you might receive update and in case of failure there is no official support. In such a case, it is better to continue using Windows 10 which is supported till 2025 rather than putting your device into unsupported condition. The Microsoft method is only good for testing and evaluation and if you want to test something without bothering about support.
I recommend you to only upgrade to the Windows 11 if your device is supported and never use any method to bypass requirement (even the official method from the Microsoft). I know many of you are concern about purchasing a device and forcing to buy a new one, in this case you I recommend you to file a report in the Feedback Hub app and specify the model of your device and request for it to be supported. Those who are using the same device would be able to vote for it and this.
You may continue using Windows 10 but be prepare for the Windows 11. Also keep in mind to consider purchasing new devices by the 2025. Keep an eye on the Home | Windows Blog as they share new updates there.
