Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot has yet to demonstrate independent speech capabilities, despite appearing to "talk" at a recent event on October 10. CEO Elon Musk has not confirmed that the robot can hold conversations autonomously. Musk envisions future versions of Optimus that can understand and execute spoken commands, focusing more on practical tasks like handling tools and completing jobs.

At the "We, Robot" event, several Optimus models interacted with attendees, but some observers suggested the voices may have been controlled remotely via telepresence, indicating the robots’ speech might still rely on human operators. Tesla's emphasis thus far has been on the robot’s physical autonomy, with future goals of greater verbal interaction as its AI develops.
