Are You The Best At What You Do?

There’s an internal monologue going on after reading that headline isn’t there? Doubt, then some positive self-talk, a bit of back and forth with yourself…
I was on a retreat last year where someone said in this really emphatic tone, ‘I know I’m the best at what I do’. And being completely honest, I. Was. Triggered.
Whenever I ask people, are you the best at what you do? I get the same reaction. There’s a pause. Big breath in. Slight panic in the eyes. Did you do the same?
Why do we find it so hard to claim that expert status when it comes to our work?
I have this feeling that so many of us label ourselves as ‘rubbish at everything’, ‘not [insert your body hang-ups here] enough’, too quiet, too loud, not good with money, lacking credibility, and the list just goes on and on.
And what I think we need to reconnect with is the list of things that make us the best at what we do.
Skills. Experience. Results. Proven track record.
Those need to be the things we ruminate on when we’re asking ourselves this question, not the warped perspective we have on ourselves and how other people perceive us.
If the question of whether you’re the best at what you do leaves you in a bit of a tailspin, this is absolutely something you need to reconnect with.
I’m talking about this on the Seven Figure Consultant Podcast this week.
I discuss:
- Having confidence in your abilities
- Collaboration over competition and how this can lead to opportunities
- Not lining your business up to your level of expertise
- Having a vision for how your business will be
- What you need to focus on to realise that vision

Free Report - The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Consulting Business
I've created a free PDF report called The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business. It’s my most popular free resource and in it I outline the 6 areas of unscaled businesses that need to change in order to move past being ‘booked up and burned out’ and shifting into that higher gear that gets you cruising again.
It’s the framework that helps consultant women like you find their feet and get back to leading the business, rather than being buried in client work and back-end business operations.
