If you can dream it, you can make it
Today I received a message from an ex-colleague who just left the company to pursue her dream in Paris.
She still remembered that I had made the commitment to learn Japanese enough to hold a 3-min-conversation entirely in Japanese with her. I told her that next time we meet, it will be 10 minutes instead because my Japanese will be much better by then.
I said that as a joke and I also included a hashtag #dreambig. And this was what she wrote back to me “If you can dream it, you can make it!”.
Really inspiring and especially in this case, she really walks the talk. She decided to leave a very stable and decent job in our company to move to Paris to follow her passion and dream in acting.
I shared with her when I heard the news that I really admired her bravery and courage to listen to her heart and step out of her comfort zone, to venture into a space with lots of unknowns and uncertainties, especially during this extraordinary time.
She gave me that much needed boost to continue my Japanese learning. It has been slow and I kinda lost a bit of momentum to be honest because I am quite impatient with the progress.
But I will continue soldiering on, to spend more time & efforts in learning, to be more intentional on my learning. Because I want to keep my promise that the next time we meet in Paris or wherever, I will be able to speak to her for at least 10 minutes in Japanese. I can do it and I will do it.
What about you? What are your dreams and what do you do today to bring you closer to your dreams?
For me, after this, I am going to practice writing my Hiragana words and also record a video of my self introduction in Japanese as a way to learn Japanese today.
Maybe I will post it on Our Love Quest too so that you can hold me accountable in my journey to 10-min-Japanese-conversation.
Dream it. Do it. Make it happen!
