If you have an adult patient who is struggling to eat and complains that everything tastes like cardboard, the following suggestion can work wonders

According to Rebecca Katz, MS, culinary translator and an expert on TAP Integrative, adding sea salt and a squeeze of lemon to any food that has a bland, “like cardboard” taste will wake up taste and appetite. According to Rebecca, “salt is an appetite stimulant and moves flavors to the tip of the tongue, enhancing other flavors of the food. Acid, such as found in lemon juice, draws out hidden flavors in foods. Acid can be added to eliminate any metallic taste that patients might experience as a side effect of treatments.”

Tastes "like cardboard" is how I feel about US tomatoes, even organics. Overseas tomatoes taste so much better. Thanks for the tip!
