If you haven’t asked your contractors or suppliers about their supply of labour, ask now.

What exactly are the consequences of not enough workers?

Of course there are many - from crops not harvested to buildings not being built – at its simplest work simply doesn’t get done. But the list goes on - quality suffers, orders are shorted, wastage spirals.

The tightening labour market is well documented across the world, not least in the UK – the lowest unemployment rate for over 40 years, access to EU nationals falling dramatically and changes to immigration policy set to make the situation even more challenging.

Savvy businesses are of course ”on it” with their recruitment and retention strategies – there is evidence that pay rates wages are rising and staff are getting invested in. Same too with Labour Providers, that great source of contingency labour, but they of course have the same challenges.

To fail to plan is to plan to fail.

How confident are you about your supply chain?

Are your contractors/suppliers geared up?

Think they’ll “get through”?

What if they don’t…?

If you haven’t already it’s time to ask.
