You must also be darkness

I sit alone on a Saturday afternoon in my nearby church. Sun beams are gently illuminating the holy interior as I quiet my mind and just look at the paintings. It smells like burnt candles. I hear soft voices beneath the altar. All the red chairs are carefully placed after a quick baptism.

In this quiet revery, suddenly I notice. The wind blowing the foliage outside makes sure the light and dark dances on the face of a silver icon. And in that moment it suddenly dawns on me: we are actually halfway on our journey between light and dark.

The Autumnal Equinox is here.

From now on until March, life begins to slow down. Life will get darker. We are called to embrace our shadow as the most beloved part of ourselves. The part that we mostly hide, despise, neglect, ignore or chase away.

This week’s message is a milder, shorter message to accompany all our transitions to another season in our lives.

Transitions happen without our decisions. Transitions happen because we need them and don’t usually have courage to start them.

In astrology, starting points of transitions are symbolised by Eclipses, the dual/paired lunar and solar events happening 2 times a year, meant to strike swift endings and beginnings.

Today we are stepping into the season of balance, of beautiful Libras.

And we are also in the middle of Autumn Eclipse season and the veil is thin. (read below my last week’s article on the first Eclipse)

We lost something or someone during the past week, but life will soon ask us to be brave and fill that void with something new. A new feeling, a new activity, a new meaning, a new project. Nobody will be able to stand still this autumn. We need to move forward. Even in complete darkness.

We don’t know yet what to put in that place that is now liberated. And the guidance is to listen carefully and wait. Wait until the middle of October to start anything. Let the waves of this transition settle.

I see autumn as a sudden descend into the darkness of our souls. The decisions we took and affected our lives and the lives of others, the actions we are not so proud of, the sins we’ve been tolerating in our nature and around us, the greed with which we expect everything from others and nothing from ourselves.

Today, the equinox marks the perfect balance of Yin and Yang, as day and night are equal. From here, Yin energy rises as autumn's changes begin—the air cools, leaves turn golden, and nature prepares for its final harvest before winter.

Here are some introspection prompts for your darkness:

  1. Am I ready to stand up for the life I am living and admit to the darkness I create?
  2. Am I ready to look for balance or am I still excited in the face of chaos and dopamine?
  3. When and where am I betraying my values, principles, needs so that I can get rewarded by quick, easy gratification moments?
  4. Who are the people I am influencing with my poor decisions?
  5. When and where am I playing the generous woman for others to perceive me as good?
  6. What am I getting from hiding my darkness?

Our happiness is determined solely by the darkness we reject, neglect or entertain.

This autumn will mean transitions of all sorts. Pluto retrograde for the last weeks in Capricorn, autumn Eclipses, the advent of winter retrogrades and the dawn of changing the destiny nodes in 2025, they will all push us to embrace the most hidden and unloved part of us: the darkness. Nobody can escape. Either with inner work or outer suffering, we will all journey into the dark if we want to rise again into the light.

I have decided to change the day of the week I am sending this message, so stay tuned for a surprise!

Also, currently have 2 more spots for October astrology readings: birth chart and forecast for the next year. Send me a message for full details and we’ll meet soon!

Until next time, embrace your darkness!
