You ONLY Need This Article For Social Media

Social media growth strategies don’t just fail because of bad content, or not showing up everyday. It is mainly due to simple, yet avoidable mistakes like:

  • Failing to follow the latest trend of each social media platform
  • Not paying enough attention to your followers engagement

Check out this article and my latest YouTube video where I talk about some of the best hacks for growing your channels on Social media.

With more than 5 billion people utilizing platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook every single day, social media has evolved into one of the most powerful tools for influencing consumer choices. This is purely human psychology, you keep seeing a particular product, and then one day when you need something similar, the first thing your brain suggests is that same product. This is how top companies rake in tons of revenue annually; little wonder why they do not mind spending a fortune on ads. This is more than enough to show you that social media is not a joke, and must be taken very seriously.

Let’s look at some of the stats; a recent survey showed that 77% of people are more likely to buy from brands they already follow online, and 84% of people testify that social media plays a crucial role in their buying decisions.

Unfortunately, like the saying goes “Nothing good comes easy”. None of these things already mentioned happens overnight, you need to go through the seedtime and harvest, that is, you need to grow your followers from mere onlookers to becoming your most trusted customers. This is where the real problem begins, standing out on any social media channel has never been as hard as it is today. The average user sees over 1,500 posts a day, so sitting back and waiting for your ad to put you out there may no longer be as effective as it should be. That’s why you need to think outside the box. What is most common to most internet users today? A very short attention time span, and a busy schedule. How then can you use these two to your benefit? It’s very simple, switching to quick, catchy short-form videos, using AI tools to generate fresh content ideas, and optimizing your posting schedules to match when your audience is most active. These are both a few hacks you can utilize for your unparalleled growth on social media.

No need to rack your brain on how these can be to your benefit, sit back and let me show you a whole world of growth with social media you might have never thought possible.

1. Importance of Followers on Social Media

To many, social media is about connecting with friends and staying in touch, but to businesses and business oriented individuals, it is a powerful tool that can influence how much revenue you go home with at the end of the day. Since we already established that 77% of consumers will buy from brands they already follow on social media, your top priority then should be to get people to follow your business page.

Now there are three categories of people who may follow you:

  • Those who need your services
  • Those who may need your services in the future
  • Those who are unsure of where they stand

For the first category, you have already done a good job convincing them that your services are what they need, hence while they are following. For the second and third category, you want to spend time convincing them. Bear in mind that their feed is exposed to about 1,500 posts every single day, so you either convince them fast, or stand the risk of losing them and whatever referral they could have provided for your brand.

Getting them to remain as your top followers includes creating relatable things like a funny TikTok on an existing trend, a heartfelt Instagram post, or a quick how-to video on YouTube Shorts. The truth is that Algorithms play a big role in determining which content gets seen. They’re designed to push contents that align with user preferences, often favoring creative storytelling, and value-driven posts.

Though Social media growth can be quite daunting, requiring lots of planning and back testing, the good part remains that the rewards far outweigh the sacrifices.

2. Prioritizing Short-Form Video Content

A major hack for social media growth is to follow trends; and presently, consumers prefer quick visually stimulating content to whatever we have been feeding them with, so that’s where you should be focused. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube make these easier, you can share your brand stories, and testimonials. You will not only get followers, but even an increase in engagements, which signals the algorithm to always push your content out to an even wider audience. For instance, TikTok content has recorded a 2.34% engagement rate, surpassing Instagram Reels at 1.48% and YouTube Shorts at 0.91%.

Each of this platform have unique offerings for your business:

  • TikTok: Is known to be focused more on sounds and trends, this is an ideal platform for brands targeting the younger demographics -the GenZ. Its algorithm favors creative, relatable, and authentic content. You just need to spot a trend, and hop on it, and your business will be out in the open for all and sundry.
  • YouTube Shorts: With its integration into YouTube’s larger ecosystem, Shorts is a part of a funnel with a single purpose of guiding viewers toward long-form content. This makes it an excellent choice for educational or detailed storytelling campaigns.

To maximize the use of short-form videos:

  • Understand Your Audience: Do your due diligence by researching about your audience, and only produce content that is specific to them.
  • Consistency Is Key: Posting regularly ensures that your content remains visible and helps your channels build momentum over time.
  • Test and Test: Use platform analytics to test different formats, themes, and posting times for optimal performance. A/B testing different approaches helps you see what works and what doesn’t for each of the different platforms.

3. Leveraging AI-Driven Content Ideas

Just this year, over 60% of marketers now use AI powered platforms to source for campaign ideas, and even go as far as starting and executing an entire marketing campaign solely with the help of AI. This could be the difference between you and your competitors. This could be the difference between you and your competitors. AI is here already, and it is never too late to begin using them.

Key Benefits of AI in Content Creation

  • Effortless Idea Generation: Tools like Jasper or ChatGPT can generate fresh content ideas by analyzing trends and your audience behavior.
  • Optimized Execution: Design tools like Canva can simplify the designing process, by providing templates that allow you design contents that are aesthetically pleasing with little knowledge of the principles of designs.
  • Data-Driven Strategies: AI tools constantly analyze users behaviors and performance to recommend the type and formats of content that is best fitted for them, as well as the best time to send out these contents for greater engagements.

Implementing AI in your social media growth journey is a gamechanger, it will give you the time you need to focus more on storytelling and branding by automating repetitive tasks.

4. Become a Master of Time

The phrase, “Time is of the essence” is often overlooked in the aspect of social media, while in fact it should be the bedrock of everything you do on your journey to growth. Taking into consideration that when you just got off work, might be when another is starting their shift. So just because you got off work and have some free time is not the cue for you to make a post and expect trailblazing engagements.

This is where researching your audience pays off the most. A good understanding of when your audience is most active will ensure your content is seen by the right people at the right time. Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok offer in-depth analytics that pinpoint the times your audience is online. Even better, it provides the opportunity to schedule posts, so you can schedule to post at the best time based on analytics, and not on emotions.

Research has shown that tweaking your posting based on your audience activity and analytics, can boost your engagement by up to 25% in a very short time.

5. User Generated Content and Interactive Polls are your Best Bets

Having studied other people who have successfully grown their social media channel from scratch within a short period of time, one thing I have noted amongst them all is the use of User Generated Content and Interactive tools like polls and quizzes. These are very effective in building your growth on social media. UGC is genuine and relatable, because by featuring real experiences from customers, you can build trust while also creating compelling content.

Polls and quizzes on the other hand, will help you gather valuable insights about your audience and how they view your brand, that way you can make suitable adjustments that are within your power. If used well enough, this simple hack is capable of growing your channels twice as fast as you planned.
